I do not know what causes it but when I lock screen or close lid of the laptop (screen off) the system disconnects form the wifi and/or wired network.
Have tried to change settings in Power management without success, and now I am looking at the Login settings, but I do not know were to look for and what to change.
Any suggestions?

Immediately after this happens, post the output of:
dmesg|tail -n30
systemd-inhibit
EDIT: Don't bother with the `dmesg` output -- nobody's `udevadm monitor` is a better idea.

This is quite normal for laptops. You can find answers to practically all questions here; https://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/faq.html

Unfortunately that FAQ does not answer OP's question.
It does discuss an oft-repeated question that's not relevant to this thread... but for posterity's sake: https://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/toolkits.html
"I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe; attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion; I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate."

It always good to ask the guy, who created the app. Or, read the manual; https://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/man1.html His email is at the end of the manual.
Disconnection of wifi & wired connection is quite normal for laptops, when you lock the screen or close the lid. This happen in 3 laptop brand names I know of.

Maybe it was just a temporary problem..but I do not believe that these things just disappear.

I have a vague memory that powersaving the wlan can be blacklisted in a config somewhere - something to do with pm-utils?? Sorry no better information.

in my experience, networkmanager does these things sometimes.
fixing itself after two reboots, then break again a couple of weeks later...

Can we consider it temporarily solved under mysterious circumstances..
Maybe it occurred due a combination of powermanagement settings and some other program..ore only the first.
I run Bunsen RC1, with no extra stuff installed.. networkmanager is used for handling the connections, no edits done in the /etc/network/interfaces.
Some directed me to the xscreensaver, but when I alt-F3 for it only shows xdg-sreensaver..
Solved for now....
