Just Install the GUI on a Debian Jessie Netinstall System

Hello Everybody,
Just wanted to know if there is a way to just install the GUI with the tweaks and themes in debian. I don't want the programs, those I can install later. I just want to make a small image that I can put on new systems that is lightweight.

Thanks,
Crunchy

Re: Just Install the GUI on a Debian Jessie Netinstall System

Most of the desktop environments have relatively minimal metapackges that can be installed.

For example, the gnome-core package will just pull in the main components rather than the full gnome metapackage which comes with all the bells & whistles.

Alternatively, install the individual components rather than the metapackages.

What exactly do you mean by "the GUI with the tweaks and themes"?

Doesn't the install script tweak the settings for the look of openbox?

Re: Just Install the GUI on a Debian Jessie Netinstall System

Are you asking about the netinstall script?
https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-netinstall

If you are, simply edit the "pkgs-recs" & "pkgs-norecs" files in the bunsen-netinstall-master directory and run the script.

Perhaps wait for johnraff to comment on this though as he is the author of the script.

Put "BL netinstall script" in the thread title to attract his attention.

That should work OK. Of course, depending on what you leave out, some of the menu entries etc. might be broken.
