Disable gvfsd-smb and gvfsd-smb-browse from gvfs?

So I found something going on with gvfs that I cannot find any real explanations on how to fix. I pretty much use ssh for all my remote filesystem management. Last night, when accessing a remote share via sshfs, I noticed org.gtk.vfs.Daemon firing off SMB-BROWSE in journalctl and iterating across all the Windows shares it could find on my network. This causes a significant performance penalty when accessing a share that has been inactive for awhile. GVFS does offer functionality that I find useful, I would just prefer not to have it accessing SMB shares. I did some checking and have no samba packages installed. More digging in journalctl shows that gvfsd is accessing gvfsd-smb and gvfsd-smb-browse from /usr/lib/gvfs. For now, I simply removed those two files and the problem went away. However, I am wondering if there is a way to configure this via /etc and tell gvfs not to use those back-end modules, so that my fix will persist across upgrades.
