pulseaudio switch hdmi

2 video

hp pavillon (no sound)

2D FHD LG TV"

connected to 1 hdmi port with 1 switcher hdmi

if i plugin 2d LG TV at boot i have sound from tv using pavucontrol i can handle headphones or tv sound
if i plugin hp pavillon (no sound port) i cant find  a way to switch back to LG tv with sound.status is HDMI / DisplayPort (Unplugged)

If i remove and plug hdmi, nothing changes, if i set off the screen after the switch or before the sound situation doesnt change, if i plug at boot Lg tv i have sound no matter i  switch back to hp pavillon the swith to lg
pacmd list-sinks always is:

ports:
hdmi-output-0: HDMI / DisplayPort (priority 5900, latency offset 0 usec, available: yes)
			properties:
				device.icon_name = "video-display"
				device.product.name = "2D FHD LG TV"
	active port: <hdmi-output-0>

if boot when hp (no sound) is plugged, switch to Lg doesnt activate the sound on hdmi, pavucontrol status is port HDMI / unplugged

i dont know if this is a bug or unsupported feature or related to setting, any help is welcome
my user is in audio groups

im using arch linux with repo testing so latest update.installed

Re: pulseaudio switch hdmi

You need to rule out problems with the connectors, cables and switcher.

Try a live ISO (not the Arch one, obviously) and see if this problem occurs there as well.

I can't really understand your post.

I presume a "hp pavillion" is a laptop, yes?

So you have no sound at all from your laptop, is that right?

But if you plug a TV into your laptop's HDMI port then you have sound from the TV, is that correct?

Is this a fresh installation?

Which guide did you follow when installing your system?

hp pavillon 23" is a screen HDMI plugged to a notebook 15"

if i boot with LG TV plugged i can handle sound with pavucontrol, using headphones or hdmi sound output from TV, if i boot with Hp 23" monitor, when i switch to LG TV, sound is only from  headphones hdmi output is (pavucontrol) unplugged status.
"                 "----------- HP 23" screen
"                "/
Noteboo(X)
"                "\
"                 "----------- LG TV/screen 21"

X is a switcher with button so i dont have to plug unplug just press the button manually.

Once pulseaudio is running with a default HDMI port there is no way to change it, so if i boot with LG i can use HP with headphones and switch back to LG with output TV sound, if i boot with HP plugged i cant find how to change setting to have output tv speaker sound.

Pulseaudio installation:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio
I removed pulseaudio from package manager (pacman) then i removed any pulse configuraation file rm -r $(locate pulse ! grep home) then reinstalled.

thanks you for help

Daemon is not running
but in htop i see a

i run
pulseaudio --start
then:pavucontrol menu output Port: HDMI / (unplugged)
but
from pacmd list-sinks

Re: pulseaudio switch hdmi

I think the problem is with your switcher.

Please try a live ISO image (use PCLinuxOS, they have peerless hardware support), if the problem occurs there as well then it is probably a hardware problem.

If you have used Architect or Evolution or any other of those dodgy Arch installers then that may also be responsible.

When installing Arch you should *only* follow either the Beginner's Guide or the more concise Installation Guide (the latter is for experienced GNU/Linux users).

Also, Arch [testing] is more likely to be broken than pretty much any other distribution this side of Fedora Rawhide.

I use Arch [testing] myself and my system is fine at the moment but I don't use PA.
