Heya everyone!
It seems that some gnome apps have this issue. I'm finding results concerning my issue but so far, no solutions. Evince and Archive Manager suffer this problem:
I've always put up with the goofy invisible frame of the apps but I really need to be able to resize Evince without maximizing to make it useful.
Anyone have an idea of a way to do this or barring that, a feature rich pdf reader replacement?
Thanks for your time!

Can you use the ALT + Right Click combination on the evince (any) widow to resize it?
The other option would be to go with the Mate equivalent atril - although that will bring in some Mate desktop components.

You must unlearn what you have learned.

It's a GTK3 issue -- the programs are expecting client-side decorations that openbox does not supply.
I would recommend changing to mupdf, which is toolkit-free.

@schwim
There was a fix for the BL themes here: http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic. … 05#p439305
You may be able to apply it to whatever theme you are using
