RC2 when and why 'RC2' instead of 'stable' ?

Hai ! I am a long time Linus user. I have used many distros over time including Slackware, OpenSuse, Mageia, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu and others based on these major players like Zenwalk, Vector, Korora, CrunchBang, SolydXK, PointLinux, KWheezy, LinuxMint, Elementary, ZorinOS and many more of them. Of all, CrunchBang definitely left an impression on me and I even wrote about it on my GooglePlus which I never did for any other distro. Now, I am having the same feeling towards BunsenLabs.

I am planning to change my work Laptop to BunsenLabs from my current Ubuntu 15.10. When is the RC2 expected ? Also, why it is still called 'RC2' when many users have commented in these forums that RC1 is stable enough. Is there any specific reason ?

RC2 will be released quite soon.

Sure, RC1 is already quite stable, but we've changed the default install list a little, and the latest BunsenLabs packages that will come in the .iso file incorporate a number of improvements over RC1. (The packages will soon also be available for upgrading from the repositories without having to re-install.)

RC of course stands for "Release Candidate" - we believe RC2 will be a plausible candidate for release as a stable version, and hope the forum community will help by testing it thoroughly and try to uncover any well-hidden bugs. If nothing serious comes, up the Stable release might well be announced soon after.  cool

Surely the upcoming stable release will still be Hydrogen, and BL Helium will be based on the next stable version of Debian (Stretch, IIRC...)?

The servant lifted off a kind of ottoman a long peacock-blue drapery, rather of the nature of a domino, on the front of which was emblazoned a large golden sun, and which was splashed here and there with flaming stars and crescents. “You’re to be dressed as Thursday, sir,” said the valet somewhat affably.

There hasn't been a full release yet! The first release will be "Hydrogen", based on Debian jessie.

The next one will be "Helium", when Debian stretch becomes the next Stable.
