Guess I messed up some config... any idea what I did?
No, we're not psychic -- what did you change?
If you added any files, remove them and vice-versa.
Presumably you backed up any existing configuration files before editing them, right?
That volti output appears when the default device is set incorrectly.

That volti output appears when the default device is set incorrectly.
Thank you, I found my mistake

Does this set your speakers as the output:
pacmd set-default-sink alsa_output.usb-Harman_Multimedia_JBL_Pebbles_1.0.0-00-Pebbles.iec958-stereo

Does this set your speakers as the output:
pacmd set-default-sink alsa_output.usb-Harman_Multimedia_JBL_Pebbles_1.0.0-00-Pebbles.iec958-stereo
It outputs pulseaudio isn't running or not sessionservice (translated from German)

Did you remove or stop pulseaudio just before post #20?
BunsenLabs runs PA by default.

BunsenLabs runs PA by default.
I don't think I did!
Commands like
pacmd
and
pactl list
work, so PA should be running, right?
if I try to do
pulseaudio -D
it says
daemon could not be startet
and if i try to put in your suggestion, it says
No PulseAudio daemon running, or not running as session daemon.

Please post the full command you have entered along with the full terminal output.
I have just used the commands to change the default output device in the BunsenLabs live environment with no errors so if it's not working for you then you must have changed something important in your attempts just before post #20
We need to know exactly what you did or we will have great difficulty assisting you.

I rebooted multiple times since then and don't quite remember exactly what I did
But that doesm't matter anymore
I got everything working by using padevchooser
