[SOLVED] Help with my conky's

I have a few conky's that I use. I call them via my .conkyrc file in my home dir. Here is the output of that file:

conky -c /home/temetka/.config/conky/9_Months_Cal.conkyrc & sleep 1s
conky -c /home/temetka/.config/conky/Conky_White.conkyrc & sleep 1s
conky -c /home/temetka/1b1_accuweather_images/.conkyrc_1b1_usa & sleep 1s

On previous BL installs, they've worked just fine. But now, nothing.

If I try to run conky from the terminal here is what I get:

Conky: /home/temetka/.conkyrc: 1: no such configuration: 'conky'
Conky: /home/temetka/.conkyrc: 2: no such configuration: 'conky'
Conky: /home/temetka/.conkyrc: 3: no such configuration: 'conky'

Maybe it's because it's 2AM and my eyes are blurry, but I can figure this out. I've been using the same .conkyrc file on 2 different machines and when I reload BL because I've dorked it in some way, I just copy the file from my NAS and conky fires right up.

I've checked, double checked and triple checked the paths that are being called and they are correct.

If I copy each line 1 by 1 and execute it the terminal, the selected conky runs just fine.

So yeah....help plz.

Thanks.

I don't think you can put `conky` in .conkyrc

Are you sure that has worked before?

I think those conky commands should go in ~/.config/openbox/autostart

I don't use conky though so I may be wrong here.

+1

You don't use conky for starting conkys, you use a script or autostart. `~/.conkyrc` is a fallback location for a default conky, since many older scripts might be using it.

I think you could use an exec command in a conky to run another one, but that seems a complicated and wasteful way to do it in this case.

Re: [SOLVED] Help with my conky's

It has worked on all my previous BL builds. That's why I just kept copying the .conkyrc file for it to my NAS and of course the various folders for 1a weather, moon, etc. So when I reload I just copy them back, no muss no fuss.

Re: [SOLVED] Help with my conky's

Of course it worked that way too, if you just called the filename ~/.conkyrc without conky -c.

Shell doesn't care about file name, it just reads the commands inside and executes them. It's just confusing to use the usual configuration filename for a script file.

Re: [SOLVED] Help with my conky's

I ended up just throwing it into a conky_start.sh file and adding it to my autostart. All is good now.
