But I'd rather it didn't.
Is it an Openbox or an Xfce4 thing?
Offline
Either.
Both Xfce4 and Openbox have switch desktop with mouse wheel enabled by default.
If you're running Xfce4 go into Settings -> Window Manager Tweaks and there is a box you can uncheck.
In Openbox it will be in the mousebind settings of the rc.xml. I don't think you can set that with obconf.
I am assuming this is scrolling on the desktop not the taskbar.

Yes. Every time I accidentally scroll on the desktop the workspace changes
I thnk I'm using Openbox. Or at least I'm using the Bunsenlabs session

I'm not certain what the relevant lines in the rc.xml file are. Can it be safely deleted without compromising the DE?
I'd rather have no mousebinds than an annoying one

Make a backup of your rc.xml file first.
Then you can comment out (or delete) the relevant line.

In the <mouse> section of your rc.xml you will see this:
<context name="Desktop">that is mouse actions on the desktop. Up/Down refers to the scroll wheel.
Comment out the section that has all the <action name="GoToDesktop"> entries.
Leave the rest; those are focus rules etc ...
