I'm still a fan of scrcpy.
Guthub, the only OFFICIAL place to get it.

That is how my good old Nokia 700 always worked without any extra SW. My current Android device (Sony Xperia XA2) started out like this but later 'decided' to block file transfer by USB cable. Hence going for alternatives such as primitive ftp (works but is a little non-intuitive) and LocalSend.
Today LocalSend work again between phone and main computer. I don't know why.
Thanks for scrcpy heads up anyway.

Note that there are several types of USB-C cables, and not all are capable of data transfer and/or fast charging...

I have one that looks great with a thick chord and a bright red plastic spacer-thing at the USB-A end, but it is only capable of slow charging and does not transfer data.
Why why why why?!!???

Yeah that's true. I have 6 types of cables, considering the USB cables on my desktop computer, 2 different ones for my external drives, old phones, newer A35 phone, a car vacuum, clock, couple of emergency lights and the printer.
Old phone use a USB-Mini that are being phased out now and the Samsung uses the USB-C. The USB-Mini and USB-C cables are both data and charging cables. The C type for the Samsung being high speed as well.
So much for a "universal" connector!

I got scrcpy because plug-n-play didn't work on my old phones at one time. Still doesn't on the oldest LG, but scrcpy allows me to use the mouse and computer keyboard on the phone displayed on the computer monitor. Less OOPSIES! (for me).

I am also aware of the different cable issue but at the time I only had one USB-C cable...

Yep, have had that bug bite me before, now I wrap a little chunk of blue tape around the cords that are data+charge...wait, maybe the blue tape is for the charge-only....dangit, where are my post-it notes? ![]()
