I guess that leaves just Rush as the only Classic Rock era power trio with two members still alive and well.

The Police aren't considered "Classic Rock"? All alive!

Nah, they're Punk/Post Punk/New Wave.  Everyone knows anything after 76 doesn't count as Classic Rock.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Fair, Neil Peart joined in '75. But Rush didn't get popular till Moving Pictures in 1981, The Police were almost done by then.

So, since The Police count and they are all still alive, they are the best Power Trio of the era. Darwin, baby! big_smile

Probably. big_smile

Not only @hhh cool

For his first-ever RA Mix, Martin delivers what he calls  "nocturnal dives into the city with memories of Blade Runner on repeat."

A pretty good description. Best version of Shine Eye Gal (Black Uhuru, 1979) I've heard, and a bunch of sounds throughout that had me looking around from under my cans. "It's all in your head." Thanks, forgot I was wearing headphones.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I didn't ever play Shine Eye Gal on my radio show, but I played a bunch of Black Uhuru and Sly & Robbie. Track 4...

https://soundcloud.com/hhhorb/ep30 (just hit 'Esc' if it makes you login). Orson Welles, always a dub favorite. tongue

-edit- Playlist, I had to Shazam a few of them...

-intro music, Sugar Minott-
DJ Shadow
The Alan Parsons Project
A painstaking splice to line up the individual digital tracks nearly right for the bass transition into The Alan Parsons Project again with The Raven (one of my better edits)
Black Uhuru (oops, track 3, since the Alan Parsons thing is unified)
Mo' Horizons
The Solid Doctor
Boards of Canada (hey, it's dub enough after The Alan Parsons Project, plus it's their best jam)
-station ID-
Hird (I guess I was highlighting downtempo at this point)
Apiento (Mad Professor Remix)
Sublime
OH GOD "THE MUNSTERS", TWO VERSIONS BECAUSE IT WAS HALLOWEEN! (I should have played just the second version and another song)
-outro, Sugar Minott, then cuts from Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House- We had either the '73 or '79 release in our house growing up.

How are you defining popular?

Are 2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, and Permanent Waves not included in the calculation for some reason? If you didn't know who Rush was prior to Moving Pictures you weren't paying attention to rock & roll.

By bias that makes The Police the best band ever, duh!

I thought the emoji conveyed that.

Spoiler: I like The Police better than Rush. It's a stylistic preference, mostly having to do with Geddy Lee's vocals, which I tolerate with great reluctance.
