The Black Dahlia film is indeed very boring, and I am also not a fan of gore, with the exception of some good comedy, which I classify Hellbound as. A way, way less gruesome example of comedy would be Tremors. Much more gruesome examples of satirical comedy would be Verhoven's Robocop and Total Recall. Middle ground is Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

I enjoyed Buster Keaton's Sherlock Jr. recently, which my local cinema was showing, accompanied by a real human piano player. It's also available on YouTube.

Can recommend Harold Lloyd as a soul mate to that insanity. Blew part of his hand off in one scene, had to hide it with a prosthetic glove for the rest of his career...

I went to see the Odyssey at the cinema, the first time I've been in a nearly-full cinema for a long time. It's not the film of the century or anything, but I enjoyed every minute. Agamemnon's battle outfit is the perfect mix of awesome and very silly.

Been binging a bit lately, catching up with the stuff I’ve missed over the last half decade or so. Watched both the Sisu films (very good), The Covenant (decent), Primitive War (fun b-movie), They Cloned Tyrone (good), Dust Bunny (meh), The Gray Man (does this Gosling chap even have facial muscles?) and the last two Mission Impossible chapters (not enough Benji). Yeah, basically the easy to digest kind. I’m too old for the deep stuff these days.
