Re: World Cup Football | El Copa Mundial de Fútbol 2026

Did anybody see the Norge/Ivory Coast game or highlights? Go Norge.

Apologies to @Sector, the game winner by Haavland, off the incredible pass...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhYSxGmy3Lw

Incredibly slow goal, slowest goal-kick in decades, and the moment of panic where he isn't sure he kicked it hard enough is great.

I have been a MC fan for years. I know how good Haaland is, but I am more impressed by the Norwegian fans. The best group of fans in WC history!

Re: World Cup Football | El Copa Mundial de Fútbol 2026

It's been incredible, the foreign ticket holder reactions to paying a boat load and going through the hoops of getting into the US right now. Pull!

Go DR Congo. I know there is a genocide going on there now, and it's the rape capital of the world with the highest rate of genital mutilation, but I don't blame the athletes. They just want to play their best on the world stage, and are they ever.

Side note, I know it's The Democratic Republic of Congo, but as an American I can only ever read it and say it in my head as Dr. Congo. Rock me, Dr. Congo.

Incredible highlights from the whole cup so far, pretty much every team has had a spectacular moment.

Flippin hell! Take a bow, Cabo Verde. Take a bow!!
As for Argentina, you’re screwed if you don’t buck up.

Saw the Capo Verde - Argentina game this morning.
Wow!

I guess Argentina were the stronger team - just about - so deserved to go through, but a great game with thrills to the end.
Yes, take a bow Capo Verde.

They have great music too, eg:

As long as Messi's fit (and it looks like he is), I reckon they'll be fine. Well done Capo Verde anyway.

We, Argentina, have Egypt next.

That sounds like it's going to be a tough one.

Re: World Cup Football | El Copa Mundial de Fútbol 2026

Not even the great Don Carlo could pull Brazil out of mediocrity.

They’ve lost everything that made them Brazil. Like a once great terminal app written in C getting a bloated Electron makeover. Even a passing cyborg (Haaland) can’t recognise you anymore and marks you for deprecation.

Farewell Neymar. Just go enjoy all that money you made in Saudi, buy a few more tacky watches.

Even Argentina's Messi has reached his end stage.  This is his last WC and it's showing.
Still good goals but age gets us all!

Re: World Cup Football | El Copa Mundial de Fútbol 2026

Belguim trashing the USA needed to happen, to preserve what integrity the sport had left after what Trump did yesterday.

Best day of the World Cup so far. Both Ronaldo and Trump crying on the same day, along with all the Andrew Tate simps who overlap the same fanbase. Makes you feel like there’s still hope in the world.

We've got Norway next, and its going to be a tough one. Don't want to speak too soon but I think this just could be England's year (it's only been 60 years since the last time right?).

Don't want to comment on the US at the moment. Well done Spain but I'm a little but sad about Portugal - they're too good not to win at least one World Cup, and Ronaldo is a once in a generation player so they'll be lucky to find another one like him any time soon.

Portugal is a good team, but they are better without C.Rod. They should have sub'ed him in the 2nd half. Look at what Belgium coach did in the game against USA. He started a much younger team, benched De Bruyne, sub'ed Doku and Lukaku in the 2nd half. They over paced their opponent in most time during the game.
