Unable to install a printer on a new install, CUPS permission issue
carbon-1-260211-amd64.hybrid.iso recently installed on an ASUS laptop I5 w/16g ram.
I only have a user name and password, I do not have a root password.
After I go through the process of identifying the printer and click to save it, firefox opens a webpage for cups, localhost:631. CUPS asks for my credentials then states I don't have insufficient rights.
I have a username and password but no a root password.
What can I do?

I discovered how to resolve my CUPS issue by adding myself to lpadmin group.
I don't know how to mark my post as SOLVED.

Sounds like I should mark this [SOLVED]?
The future arrived. Read the terms and conditions.

For future reference: click "Edit" under the first post of this topic. You'll be able to edit the Subject line.

I did that before I posted that I didn't know how to do it. When I clicked edit and clicked on the original subject line keystrokes weren't accepted. In other words. I could not type on the subject line. It was like I didn't have sufficient rights to edit the subject line.
I could type in the text body but not the subject line. Should that have been an ability for me, if so, any idea why my keystrokes didn't work?

^ Have you tried editing the first post (#1) here?
If so, then there is a bug in the forum software or you are using browser add-ons such as NoScript or uMatrix.
Temporarily disable them so that the forum software scripts can run.
Then use the reload button in the browser to refresh the web page.
If people would know how little brain is ruling the world, they would die of fear.

I could input a space and two characters before keystrokes were no longer accepted.
@johnraff - is there a character limit to the subject line?
You must unlearn what you have learned.

^Yes, there is a character limit - I have run into it in the past.
That's probably what @bushy3 hit - it is quite a long title.
