What about the OTHER World Cup that's happening right now - the Women's T20 (Cricket) World Cup? The White Ferns aren't doing too well but could still qualify for the semi finals.

Re: World Cup Football | El Copa Mundial de Fútbol 2026

With nothing of much value to watch on all the channels and streaming, footie has been the thing while it rains all the days here for 3 weeks, with this lake I live by has risen by 55cm (22 inches), with temperatures like today of 12°C (53°F). Apparently summer has started but forgot about us here (northern Saskatchewan along the Manitoba border).

Of course we cheer Canada. Of course Canadians do not cheer for anything American since they threaten us like Greenland. Though the Americans I have met are very nice on a personal level.

The Australian cheers referring to the USA president are very direct and funny / OMG. Aussies are always fun. So are the Germans, who sing odd songs in large drunk groups and remarkably in tune. The Scots drink more than anyone it seems, and of course bagpipes are good if you're not too close by.

Cabo Verdé tied two games. Spain, Uruguay. Tiny country of less than 500,000 people. The team is heros.

Côte d'Ivoire beat Ecuador. Perhaps the most exciting game we have watched. The fans were very fun.

Seems that no single country wants to host the World Cup anymore. This time is Mexico, Canada and US. How about 2030 World Cup? It will be hosted by 6 countries.

Morocco
Portugal
Spain
Argentina
Paraguay
Uruguay

A little cool up there still huh.  At least you're not suffering a heat wave.

And; Yup, this Canuck agrees with that statement!

How about every team that plays as "home game" plays in their own country.
FIFA pays for the flights and ticket sales for games locked in at 2024 prices.
{koff koff} crooks, time to pay up!

HEY!  It's my opinion!

I personally don't recognise T20 as a valid form of the game worthy of a world cup. I prefer to watch a Test Match, T20 doesn't do it for me.

Still not really that interested myself, though I usually get into it more as the tournament gets into the knockout stages. Fantastic goal by Messi in Argentina's match with Austria this week; he had barely a foot wide to get the ball theught and into the goal, and managed to find.

He is surely one of the all time great footballers, and it's great to see him still playing.
