BUT: That 1st RED CARD was a WRONG, JUST PLAIN WRONG!!!!
EDIT: Before this was moved I was listening to it, as I was on the computer. But thanks hhh.
And Argentina with a Record Breaking relaxed Messi is going to be a tough team to beat.
Messi got a Copa Mundial de Fútbol record with his 3rd goal. He became the person with the most goals ever in the history of El Copa Mundial de Fútbol.
→ is that Ronaldo over there in the corner - crying?

Done. The difference between Ronaldo and Messi, both now firmly middle-aged, is striking. Pun intended.

I spent formative years in Boston and lived a decade in Charleston, aka the lowcountry. Scots loving Boston is the best thing ever.

In general, though, the reffing has been fairly hands off, don't you think? And I'm amazed at the lack of flops I've seen (admittedly, just repeats on YT, so maybe way worse if I watched a whole match).
I'm just saying, FIFA is corrupt as hell, the whole US part of it has been a complete clusterfuck under Trump, but the players and refs are really trying hard to do a good job. In my opinion.

Also, every time I read DR (Democratic Republic of) Congo, I read Dr. Congo. My favorite doctor since Dr. Who, Dr. Nick, Dr. Mario and Dr. Xaos. Rock me, Dr. Xaos. Honorable mentions to Dr. Doom, Dr. Octagon and Dr. Robert. Play the bongo, Dr. Congo.

48 teams competing for the Cup. It's truly insane.
The Tour de France is, arguably, the most grueling endurance sporting event in the world and starts in a couple of weeks. Barring a catastrophe, it'll be Pogačar, maybe Vingegaard. 3 weeks, for those two to be decided maybe a week before the end of the race. Compare to what will be the last game of this World Cup, also an endurance sport, holy hell.
To be fair, Messi doesn't stand a chance in a bike race against his World Cup opponents and teammates, but I bet Pogačar could juggle a futbol against the other bikers.
Team sports for the win.

I haven't watched anything though I intend to. Following Germany as I do every World Cup.

^ Why Germany? They crushed the tiny Caribbean Dutch island of Curaçao in their WC debut, btw.

-edit- Look at these highlights, this is what I'm talking about. Nobody, I mean nobody is doing anything wrong, if anything they might be just standing around a little too much. Very respectful play.

Guys and gals, I'm a damn Yankee doodle dandy (USA), I don't give a shit about futbol. If it didn't involve cycling, I wouldn't give a shit about Le Tour either. Crashing in a peloton is not my idea of a fun bike ride. Falling down a descent at 70mph with a 20 degree F difference (fuck you, rest of the world) between top of the hill and bottom on 22mm (fuck you, USA) tires in the Alps is just insane. This is all Rollerball, but people say "It's a small world" but it really isn't until this stuff happens. Scots invading Boston is some good stuff. +1, would recommend World Cup Rollerball, can't wait for Le Tour.

Wow, look at that front tire! Not 22mm. No idea when this pic was taken, 1951 as the blurb suggests? Because that is a great handlebar, remember by the 70's they were all using really tight drop-downs, barely a foot and a half wide. Those nice curved front-fork dropouts, though.
Crap, soccer thread. Pele, love the guy.

Do you watch the Rugby World Cup by chance?

I agree with you in part. FIFA is a lot more corrupt now than ot was 4 years ago and I was not going mention anything about the US part in this, as that is purely a political issue that should not be a part of the World Cup.
The players are trying for the cup.

I have just always followed the German team. The All Whites have made an appearance at the WC but that's all it will be, so Germany it is.
Do you watch the Rugby World Cup by chance?
No, rugby lost it's shine years ago and completely once the AB's sold out to the big corporate. I prefer Rugby and Rugby League over HandEgg by a long shot too. Aussie Rules is pretty awesome as well.

FIFA are a disease. From what I have seen reported about parking at stadiums being banned and then city councils over inflating public transport to and from the stadiums has put me off watching this round of the WC.
P.S. Messi should have been red carded.

FIFI and the extar add on fees just before the start is a total disgrace.
What did Messi do to deserve a red card? Did I miss something?
EDIT: Wait one ... I did see it.
Around the half-hour mark, Algeria’s Aissa Mandi was left writhing in pain after Messi’s studs-up challenge landed on the defender’s calf.
AND I told my wife, an "argentina", that that was just plain wrong. You're right, any other player would have been given a read card. I was loosing the argument with my wife.
I still say the Algerian that did get a red card should NOT have received that.

I haven't seen anything yet, though I generally get more interested as the competition nears its conclusion and probably will this time too.

Since the first two days of almost all games, I have not even turned the TV on for anything!
