Re: BunsenLabs film thread

I'm watching Sergio Leone's "Duck, You Sucker!" also known as "A Fistful of Dynamite". It's the middle film in the "Once Upon A Time" trilogy. I've seen the other two but had never even heard of this one!

@Sector11...

"Whether Moonfall is so bad it's good or simply bad will depend on your tolerance for B-movie cheese – but either way, this is an Emmerich disaster thriller through and through."

I think it's generally agreed at this point that Godzilla (1998, dir Emmerich) was a decent film?

@Jimbo, free with ads here (not sure about all countries)...

Damn, Ennio Morricone just slays everything he composes.

Starring Rod Steiger and James Coburn? Crazy. Definitely an overlooked film, as WIkipedia states.

Terminator Salvation (2009. Starring Christian Bale, who I usually hate due to his speech impediment, you too McConaughey with your Texas whistle, directed by McG, which isn't even a name so fuck you, Joseph Nichol).

I know the story goes off the rails fairly quickly, but damn. Good film. RIP Anton Yelchin.

Yeah yeah, I know, it's still there it's just "I" can't see it, GUGL can.  smile

But still the link should work.

He was utterly brilliant in True Detective Season 1.

^ I can't make it past the halfway point of Interstellar because he is so boringly monotone and whistley.

I just read on Reddit that TD S1 is one of the best TV shows ever made. But McC AND Harrelson? Ten minutes in and I'm all "Shoot me now."

Re: BunsenLabs film thread

I just watched Escape from Alcatraz (for the first time), enjoyable but seemed to be missing something to turn it into a great film.

I had to check my maths several times, but the film was released in 1979 when Clint Eastwood was 49 years old

Because it's sort of a documentary about some convicts escaping Alcratraz. Not like they were wrongfully imprisoned and you're rooting for them. Allegedly, those guys made it to shore and then on to South America.

Watched The Detective 1968, for the first time. Run of the mill cop show by today's standards; provocative for it's day. Sinatra is a bit miscast because of his age (53 at the time, bit old for the part), but the performances are good. Decent neo-noir film.

Re: BunsenLabs film thread

We watched Paper Man on Prime last night. Jeff Daniels and Emma Stone. It was a very personal (among the characters) story about two insane people who made friends with each other, apparently enabling both to overcome their psychosis. I would recommend it.
