Christ, Chas Chandler from the Jimi Hendrix Experience died of an aneurysm in '96? He was my favorite drummer of the late sixties, cyclical jazz beats. A tie between him and Keith Moon, Bonham from Led Zep and Bruce from Cream sucked compared to these guys.
You must mean Mitch Mitchell. Chas Chandler was maybe their promotor or something. And Jack Bruce was Cream's bass player. (He and Ginger Baker didn't get on by all accounts.)

You're right. Chas Chandler was their producer/engineer who developed some of Jimi's early boxes along with Eddie Kramer, like the octave splitter. Mitch Mitchell is the amazing drummer who died at age 62 of natural causes, in 2008. The same letter names always trip me up. Tiny Tim, Tommy Tutone, Tommy Tucker, where does it end?

Yes, Jack Bruce, early adopter of African drum beats in rock, overrated drummer in my opinion.

Fuck, of course I mean Ginger Baker. Nobody payed attention to the bass in rock until Jon Entwhistle. Baker, just a boring drummer, IMO.

Fucking boring.
I'm also going to take this moment to say I think Bonham is overrated. Led Zep kind of sucks.

I should probably justify my last statement. Le Zep 1 first track, the first break has a little bass line fill that keeps the flow going. The second hard break at about 1 minute thirty, the hit to come back in is one of the sloppiest things I've heard on a certified hit record, the drums hit and the rest of the band are so off.

Credit to Bonham, though, he is rocking the shit out of that cowbell.
The only other thing I can think of to compare is the double guitar solo in Can't Get Enough by bad company, at 2:17 the climactic guitar harmony is laughably out of tune.

Also, fucking boring drumming by Bonham. There are only 3 sixties rock drummers that I can think of who were in popular bands but were innovative. Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell and Ringo Starr.
Keith Moon...

What, I'm gonna diss an Eddie Kramer interview?
I hate bells in songs. Little Wing would still be great without gay-ass bells chiming in. Walk Away by U2, a few others, fine. This song would be better with a synth instead of bells. A wah guitar part. A Peter Frampton talk box, Hendrix never did that, it would be perfect on this song.
Frank Zappa gets a pass on bells because it's mostly marimba, xylophone or vibraphone and it's played by Ruth Underwood.
What are the bells on Walk Away I Will Follow by U2? Glockenspiel? Yeah, I take it back, it nearly ruins the song. Fuck bells.

By the way, this is the best drumming that Larry Mullen Jr. ever recorded. What, you've never heard of Larry Mullen Jr, longtime drummer of U2?
Buckethead is a brilliant guitarist who also prefers completely generic drum and bass players.
