Wait, it's Niel peert, as in beer? I've always pronounced it pert, like the cheap shampoo.
Rush has a new drummer. She's pretty great, of course. I don't like the videos of Niel behind her, that's just wierd pandering.. Kind of amazing that Geddy Lee has the same shitty vocals he's had since they started. He's a witch, burn her!

Also, I saw Rush as the intro act for Tom Petty at the West Palm amphitheater that's been renamed a few dozen times (Sunrise, Tweeter, Circuit City off the top of my head), maybe year 2002? Guitarist Alex Lifeson had fingers the size of hotdogs and completely shredded, I basically had no idea idea that I was hearing one of the world's best guitarists. Rush had a big screen with CG robots and closeups of the sausages. Blew Tom away, IMO. Glad to hear his guitar playing still on point.

There are some tracks you should post periodically to enforce their superior longevity. One of those is Electric Avenue (1982) by Eddy Grant.

Stuart Copeland plays Driven To Tears. Maybe the best living rock drummer? (Vinnie Colliuta and Bill Bruford are still alive, as well as most of the best metal drummers who'll just drill those guys with double drum pedals.. A few other oldies as well. Nick Mason, Steve Gadd.)

A decent drummer. Bring on the Night (my favorite Police song)

Christ, Chas Chandler from the Jimi Hendrix Experience died of an aneurysm in '96? He was my favorite drummer of the late sixties, cyclical jazz beats. A tie between him and Keith Moon, Bonham from Led Zep and Bruce from Cream sucked compared to these guys. /opinion
Hendrix does space jazz on his first Experience album...

You know why Mozart is one of the greatest composers? Because the viola player has an interesting inner voice to play, sometimes being a baby 'cello, sometimes being the third violin. Tchaikovsky said "Fuck you, viola, play a page of the same thing, two notes an octave apart, for 20 minutes and let's watch your arms fall off."

Violas, front right of the conductor from the audience viewpoint.
Under 5 minutes for the movement? The conductor was kind. I've endured 13 minutes of this bullshit, my shoulder was pretty much melting at that point. Next performance, same thing. Only 5 more to go till New Years. Fuck!

I want to make it clear, the reason classical symphonic music is dead is because of Tchaikovsky. Also a touch of De Beers ads. Even Brahms and Bartok couldn't save it.
Just listen to this piece of shit...

If you think this is good music, let me assure that you're wrong. It sucks.
I mean, this and Barber Adagio for Strings are you're basic string player nightmares. So fucking long and boring...

Would you like me to kill you now or kill you later?
Kill me now, kill me now!
I fully hate the film Platoon because of the use of this piece. You get to the end, there are some nice chords. Then you do it again, from the top, ONE MORE TIME!
If anyone here says they think Oliver Stone used this piece effectively in the film, I will get someone to geo-guess your location, I'll kill your dog and I'll shit in your doorway. Fuck you.

Tell us how you really feel.
How about "Paint It Black" in "Full Metal Jacket"?
Personally I don't like Oliver Stone or his pretentious movies, or Charlie Sheen for that matter.
Original "Vanishing Point" with Kim Carnes doing "Nobody knows it" at the closing and credits, and "rockin, rollin. reelin feeling" as the climactic setup. Best ever. First view and listen stunned everybody who saw it. And maybe "West Side Story" or Joe Walsh "In The City" at the end of "The Warriors".
