I watched Old Henry last night, well worth a watch if you like a good Western.

Re: BunsenLabs film thread

While YouTube seems to be worse than ever, one thing that has been on point this year is it's "Free with Ads" movies.

Currently watching The Exorcist (1973). On Roku you can use "Playlet" to watch YouTube without ads, I'm sure there are other ways for other platforms (hdmi to tv from your browser using uBlock Origin). The film just looks so stunning on it's own. Add the audio, super creepy.

Re: BunsenLabs film thread

I can only take The Exorcist in pieces (haha) because it's too bleak.

Breaking it up with even bleaker Battlestar Gallactica (2004), free with ads on Pluto. So much shaky-cam, but everything else is amazing. Compare the music in this to the amorphous blob soundtrack for every The Next Generation episode. The antagonist might be amorphous on TNG, the score always was.

BSG Season 4 - I love that version of All Along the Watchtower.

I only remember seeing one show all the way through during it's original run, the one where Starbuck gets blotto/shitfaced/housed/pissed and pissed some more/tanked/fucking drunk and angry. Great episode. She gets blotto in two episodes, I think it's the first time, second season? (edit- It was, she's drunk in the mess hall at the very beginning.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scar_(Bat … Galactica)

I don't think it was the other one from Season 3

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unfinishe … Galactica)

I'm still on the first episode, first season. smile Great tv.

Besides the series being beautifully produced, filmed (except for excess shakey-cam), scripted and acted, the use of music and the whole sound design is sublime.

Re: BunsenLabs film thread

YouTube has Murder On the Orient Express, starring Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall, Sean Connery, Vanessa Redgrave, Ingrid Bergman, Anthony Perkins, Michael York, Jacqueline Bisset and more. Directed by Sidney Lumet, my favorite Poirot ever and a masterclass of film-making.

I got you, fam.

https://archive.org/details/murder-on-t … press-1974

Everyone should see this film. Finney was filming another movie at the time, they picked him up in an ambulance so he could sleep and they could do his makeup to make him look much older, then he'd wake up and do a 12 minute uninterrupted scene with Ingrid Bergman (she won best supporting actress). Then the next day with Lauren Bacall, etc... Actually, those interrogation scenes of Bacall and Bergman are back to back, one long take.

Note that this is the same actor who played Julia Roberts' boss in Erin Brockovich.

"You never smile, madame les princess." "MY... docTORrrr... has advised against it."

And the next scene is Rachel Roberts as Hildegarde Schmidt, and how amazing is that scene. So creepy.

Having grown up with Finney's portrayal, I absolutely hate, like really fucking hate, David Suchet's limp wristed Poirot. Suchet is annoying prissy and fussy. Finney is funny fussy and fully playing the game with an on-point audio mix.

Re: BunsenLabs film thread

Thanks hhh.

I've seen the movie.  It's a classic I just that I get so (insert expletive) irritated with GUGL, YouTube et al when they decide "not avaliable for your country".

Don't know who the "uploader" is but GUGL has the final say!
GUGL {koff koff} steals and uses everyone'd data in the world but I can't watch a movie because I'm in the wrong country? WTF(armer)!

Thanks for the link!  Appreciate it.

Re: BunsenLabs film thread

No problem. I've seen this film a hundred times, there's always something new to see in it. I saw it too young, the intro scenes with the blue light and spinning newspapers gave me nightmares at age 10. A couple creepy faces (Poirot in the scrots I showed discovering the bed gown, Hildegard when she is discovered) are burned into my brain.
