Re: 2026 Screenshot Thread

^ I might have to remove that scrot, all sorts of nsfw ads attached to it.

Updates incoming on sid KDE.

edit: @unklar, no problem with that link. It's a given that you can be assaulted by the internet, serves me right for forgetting to install ublock origin on the sid setup. tongue

Trusty trixie GNOME...

edit 2: Shout out to me and GNOME Shell going way back. Released April 6, 2011, this is me theming it in early December of the same year...

Wow, Iceweasel. I had forgotten!

edit 3: Awesome, the icon packs (Gnome-brave and Gnome-executive) still work (some dead icons in the pane, boo).

Re: 2026 Screenshot Thread

Plasma is gone, I should be using my experiments on sid/labwc. wayland/wlroots projects are almost all packaged for sid now and in the repos. This setup is just a baby, freshly baked...

Showing xfce4-panel and terminal, thunar, and gapless (aka g4music), the icons are Papirus Nord (Frost Blue 3). The display manager is nwg-hello (greetd), logout/reboot is nwg-bar.

edit: The Dark Side, and mako's default config is perfect for now...

Got bored earlier and started playing with fractals again and this one made for a simple but interesting wallpaper:

Re: 2026 Screenshot Thread

Neat. How's the stability of Cosmic these days, and do you like the desktop?

Re: 2026 Screenshot Thread

@hhh, The laptop will not be used by me, so it's something that I imagine would be enjoyable for a less savvy user. On this ancient machine, it's quite slow, but bearable, I guess. It looks neat out of the box, in my opinion. Interestingly, the machine can easily play HD H.265 movies; I'm guessing VLC and MPV are finding some decoders in this Skylake GPU. As always, I'm a little shocked by the super-plain bash CLI setup. p.s. A little disturbed by wifi not working correctly type of problem (I think i managed to fix it).

The Cosmic desktop imho is the best version of Gnome, if it could be called that.
