I'm thrilled by this wonderful idea from @ceeslans ![]()
On different desktops, it can be frustrating to change the color and appearance of the Urxvt terminal (package rxvt-unicode), from the default white background and black font.
The left scroll bar was also a problem for me.
While this doesn't seem to be a problem under BL with openbox (it adapts automatically), under Wayland, here wayfire, this is not possible without active intervention.
My search engine Qwant led me to this page: https://terminal.sexy/
The crux of the matter here is a missing ./Xresources file in my /home.
If, as in this case, I select 8 and then click on Export, a ./Xresources is available for download.
I place these in my /home in the following configuration:
! special
*.foreground: #c5c8c6
*.background: #1d1f21
*.cursorColor: #c5c8c6
! black
.color0: #282a2e
*.color8: #373b41

*.color15: #c5c8c6
! URxvt.scrollBar
URxvt.scrollBar: falseAs I understand it, you remove the * in front of the desired color and resave the file.
Then run a
xrdb ~/.Xresourcesclose all terminals and then see the above result.
I found the one with the unwanted scroll bar here and added it to the bottom of the file. ![]()

In the desktops with sid there is a slight modification to the /etc/os-release file(ufetch-one):
https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic … 13#p149313
Therefore the line must
distro="$(. /etc/os-release; echo ${ID:?} ${VERSION:?})"changed to
distro="$(. /etc/os-release; echo ${ID:?} ${VERSION_CODENAME:?})"Thanks, @ceeslans!

Does siduction/sid still have the urxvtconfig package?
It's a gui with all the .Xresource options for rxvt-unicode. It may pull urxvt-perls as a dependency.
Use the gui to make your selections. I don't remember if it generates a text file that can be copy-paste into the .Xresources or actually edits the .Xresources.
You must unlearn what you have learned.

Would it help if I share my .Xresources file?

Unfortunately this doesn't work under Wayland.
I can create a ~/.Xresources, fill it with the above values and update it with "xrdb ~/.Xresources". But this only applies to the current session.
After each restart, the procedure with “xrdb” would be necessary again: https://wiki.debian.org/Wayland#Xresources_won.27t_load
The Sway wiki recommends replacing it with ~/.Xdefaults, but I haven't tested it yet.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Sway#Xresources
The feature is not so important that the Debian world would have to be turned inside out. If necessary, it can also be done with an entry in the 'autostart file'. ![]()
Edit: @PackRat, there is no package "urxvtconfig" in sid.
Offline
Wayland compositors typically do not natively source the ~/.Xresources file (looks like sway may source ~/.Xdefaults) or files like .Xmodmap for keyboard changes.
For .Xresources, you can put:
xrdb ~/.Xresourcesin he compositors' startup file.
For sway, I have this in the ~/.config/sway/config file:
# include /etc/sway/config.d/*
include ~/.config/sway/config.d/*then in ~/.config/sway/config.d I have an autostart file that includes:
xrdb -l ~/.XresourcesYou can source the .Xresources file directly from the labwc autostart file.
You must unlearn what you have learned.

As suggested in archlinux's Sway wiki, I put the contents of the above ~/.Xresources into one file
~/.Xdefaults inserted.
I have now rebooted twice and the setting remains. The ufetch-one, started with the ufetch-wrapper, shows me what I want. ![]()
Edit: Sorry @PackRat, I missed you.
I'm here on wayfire. I haven't tried any others yet. ![]()

I made that change too.
Symlink .Xdefaults to .Xresources and sway sourced the file natively.
The other window managers I have installed source .Xresources so I tried a symlink.

^^OK.
I just rebooted and logged into mangowc
Sourced the ~/.Xdefaults
Sourcing ~/.Xdefaults must be a Wayland (xwayland?) built-in. I wonder if that has always been the case, and I overlooked it?

I don't know it.
I also gave these three a ~/.Xdefaults and it works even after reboot or suspend.

I added a ~/.Xdefaults to my EndeavourOS with Plasma install. Sourced it just fine. I assume Gnome will do it.
Good to know now. Wayland compositors source the ~/.Xdefaults file and will follow a symlink.
