Maybe I dreamt of this, but I recall a few months ago I ran across a story about a new terminal program that had a lot of bells and whistles. I can't recall what it was called, and I think I initially dismissed it because it might have been a commercial program or was for windows...
Anyway, the feature that sticks in my mind was that the terminal would buffer the output of each command executed and treat the output like a sub-pane that could be collapsed and expanded like an outline within the terminal scrollback buffer. And I think you could do things, like pipe the output of any previous command without having to rerun the previous command. You could search and sort the output again without having to rerun the command. You would just pipe the contents of the buffer into your new command.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Thanks,
David
