An ex Crunchbang user....

Hello all,

I am still a  beginner even though I started with Crunchbang a while ago ( 2010 ? ) as i was struggling with an hopelessly slow computer and a cycling pal told me "use Crunchbang don't trust the name, it works". He was right.... but I got sucked back quite soon into Windows for professional reasons as I was freelance and needed pieces of software that only works on Windows.

Anyway, now the Windows 11 thing make my "newest" computer (thinkpad W540)  redundant, I won't need those expensive professional piece of software anymore in April as I will completely stop doing freelance work.... there is like a Linux smell here. Plus I now take the train regularly and bought a new to me Thinkpad X201 for the bargain price of 80€. I am writing this post from it running Bunsen labs and I really like that my 15 years old 4Gb computer is faster to bot and switch windows than anything else I use, including CAD workstations....

Re: An ex Crunchbang user....

Thank you all for the nice words !

I forgot to mention that I am a ham radio operator so part of this "experimentation" is trying to convert my X201 laptop into a "Digital station". I need to experiment further but so far installing the various free software has been a matter of "reading carefully the instructions" so "so far so good!"
