Re: What are you listening to right now?

Joseph Byrd (a seminal figure in American electronic music and psychedelic rock) died late last year and I've only just found out. I think he deserves a tribute on here and this is one of the few tracks of his I could find online that wasn't a Christmas song.

Hi Mark,

I think some of the album's on Youtube. It sold practically nothing when it was released, but it is recognised as a classic now. I'll see if I can find a track.

[EDIT; here we go, The Cloud Song;

A really pretty song.

Yes, 10 cc are great and that's a beautiful song. I've been listening to their second album (Sheet Music) quite a lot recently.

I bought that album around 1969 I think - don't have the vinyl now, but probably a CD somewhere.
It made quite an impression at the time - Dorothy Moskowitz's vocals on the first track sound a bit like Jefferson Airplane:

Most of the album seems to be there.

Yeah, they were a lot like Jefferson Airplane only on acid. Take this track for instance;

^And Jefferson Airplane weren't on acid?

But sure USA laid the psychedelic sounds on a lot harder.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

The album ended with this sound collage... did this come out before or after Revolution #9 on The Beatles' White Album?

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Revolution 9 was recorded on 30th of May, 1968.  The White Album was released on the 22nd of November of the same year.  The United States of America's LP was released in March of 68. So that song definitely predates Revolution 9
