As usual it was a longer road than planned, with some unexpected tasks, but there is now a Carbon release candidate iso file available for download here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/bunsen … hybrid.iso
sha256 checksum: d0beb580ba500e2b562e1f39aa6ec02d03597d8f95d73fd86c1755e3fee1ef7d
If you have a free machine or VM to install it on, please give it some testing!
And please post any bugs here: https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic.php?id=9656
That thread is now closed because having multiple bug reports mixed up together was too confusing. Please post any new bugs related to the Carbon RC2 iso in individual threads in the Bug Reports section, adding a tag [Carbon RC2].
When it seems as if there aren't any bugs left to squash, we can do an Official Release. ![]()

To avoid confusion, this is Carbon RC2. Post title edited by me.
RC1 announcement (updated by @johnraff)...
https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic.php?id=9554
Download the ISO, open a terminal and cd to the Download directory (Downloads unless you've changed it).
cd DownloadsCheck your USB drive location, usually /dev/sdb, but for me /dev/sda because my hard drive is SSD, so that's /dev/nvme0n1, leaving /dev/sda available.
Copy the ISO to the drive, making sure the drive path is correct and adding sync so the file is truly written when the terminal reports it.
sudo cp carbon-rc2-260111-amd64.hybrid.iso /dev/sdb;syncNote! Do not include a partition number after the drive (NOT sdb1), just /dev/sdb or /dev/sda, or whatever your USB drive location is.

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

You added the "2" I guess? Thanks!
I was thinking most people hadn't noticed RC1 anyway...

RC2 in VirtualBox:
- RC2 Live in VirtualBox, after booting into the desktop: mouse works, but keyboard doesn't.
- RC2 Installed in VirtualBox, keyboard works at login screen, but not after loading desktop.
If I logout then back in with Openbox Session, the keyboard works. However, cannot start any tint2 taskbar.

^Please first try disabling composition:
menu > User Settings > Compositor > Disable Compositing
If that fixes the issue, then you need to enable openGL and 3D acceleration in your VM to work with the current version of picom.
I don't know the Virtualbox settings, but in qemu virt-manager it would be:
Display Spice > "Listen type" > None > Check the OpenGL box.
Under "Video Virtio" enable 3D Acceleration.
If the issue turns out not to be composition, please open a new bug report, tagged [Carbon RC2].

This fixed it:
menu > User Settings > Compositor > Disable Compositing
Question: How do I make this setting stick after reboot?
Thanks!
EDIT: Sorry, I found it, comment out this line in Autostart:
## bl-compositor --start

^If you want the pretty round corners and other composition effects, you'll need to find out how to enable OpenGL in VirtualBox.

Downloaded and fiddling with it now. Not much of a tech guy, but I can tell what works and what doesn't. Will let you know.

I came back to Bunsenlabs after Lilidog stopped being supported, but now Lilidog is back with a Trixie release, which seems ok. The Lilidog forum is gone though so BL is more appealing to me regarding discussion.
I'm leaning towards BL so am going to give it a test run, also it looks like Lilidog is heading towards a wayland only distro.
