Carbon version of bunsen-blob is now available

BLOB, the utility that lets people try different desktop theming sets (eg go back to the Boron look, or even Crunchbang) has been upgraded to 13.1-1 on the Carbon repository. This brings a lot of improvements, like support for xfce4-panel profiles, xfconf settings for xfce4-terminal, flexibility over wallpaper settings with a switch to feh by default, and more.

See the changelog: https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-bl … /changelog
or all the commits: https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-bl … ts/carbon/

Right now "BLOB Themes Manager" is commented out of jgmenu's prepend.csv, but if you're on a Carbon system you can install the package 'bunsen-blob' and uncomment that menu line to use it. Please check it out. cool

Soon, an upgraded bunsen-configs will include it in the menu by default, and it will be added to the meta - and iso - package lists. A Release Candidate Carbon iso is not far away...

Thank you @johnraff !

Maybe it's just me: it seems to work ok, nevertheless I get this message when I try to install other themes. It's not always exactly the same row number, but always around 30xx line (in this case below it's 3070, in another it was 3092).

EDIT: if I try to install "Carbon-Bark" Conky is missing. It appears again if I select other themes as Cruchbang. I did not fully tested yet but it seems that where XFCE is used then Conky is missing, while where tint is used Conky is available.

Again, maybe it's just me ...

Re: Carbon version of bunsen-blob is now available

^Hi @Dave75, I've been Away From Keyboard a few days, but thank you for checking out BLOB and finding this bug!

I've just had a look, and I got the same error when restoring Carbon-Bark. It's coming from the restoreXfconf() function when there's an entry in the xfconf configfile for xfce4-terminal which wasn't present in the file being written to. To write a new entry requires to know the type of the property, which xfconf-query does not reveal. roll

The bl-obthemes script will either have to discover the type somewhere else (eg the xml file) or bypass restoring lines which don't already exist, or maybe just switch to saving and restoring the xml files, ignoring xfconf.

It's going to need some more work...

EDIT: I think at this point the simplest solution is to go back to saving and restoring ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-terminal.xml the same way xfce4-notifyd is handled, and forget about using xfconf until it does types properly. That seems to be coming in the future, so the xfconf functions can just stay in the script, unused for now.

Users who are curious about what BLOB is doing under the hood can see some messages by running 'bl-obthemes --debug'.
