@hhh I'm working on the bunsen images packages right now - need a bit of feedback from you.

For the image archives package wallpapers - keep the logo or plain version?
Hey, sorry I missed that post. We're talking about slimming the walls down to only one resolution per wall (1920x1080, maybe), and continuing to remove some of the older walls (we can leave the themes alone, I guess?).
If we do that, then I think we could easily include both branded and unbranded walls in bark and sage for the new base wallpaper package. By my calculations, that's four new wallpapers, plus a few legacy walls (also in a single resolution). @cog's, yeti and the sunset one, for example.
By the way, I never got a response from Pawel Czerwinski, so I think we're fine using our color-shifted walls. Put his name in the Thank You list of the Release Notes, though.
-edit- I might be might be missing something, I have to re-read the thread and the links. But in general, my recommendation is to include a couple of branded wallpapers, a few other additional walls that are unbranded, each in one resolution (it really doesn't matter what resolution, the largest available within reason, I guess), and include a selection of themes. The icons and walls are what really take space, so include any themes you see fit.

I was thinking we might continue shipping the same three wallpaper resolutions as to date, ie 1280x1024 1440x900 1920x1080 for the current release only, and cut down to 1920x1080 only for archives etc. And have branded and unbranded versions for the current release, but cut down to one variant only in the archives, maybe 1920x1080 branded only - or unbranded only? That was my question actually.
the redundancy of different wall resolutions in our old images is unnecessary, IMO
I originally read that as that we would cut down the size variations of our old backgrounds to one, while continuing with three for the new release. But yes, we could just offer eg 1920x1080 only for Carbon too.
If we do that, then I think we could easily include both branded and unbranded walls in bark and sage for the new base wallpaper package.
That's possible, yes. Although there might be something to be said for having -base hold only the minimum necessary for a desktop.
By my calculations, that's four new wallpapers...
The current bark & sage images are 2400x1600, which we don't need. But we would need 1280x1024, 1440x900 and 1920x1080 branded and unbranded versions of bark and sage each, so a total of twelve new wallpapers, to be distributed between bunsen-images and bunsen-images-base. If we cut down to 1920x1080 only, then it would be four, not twelve.
Size and aspect ratio: probably the user's display will do some cropping or distortion to fit it in, but IDK how important that is for the current Czerwinski images.

and bunsen-images-base: https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-im … rs/default
Changes can easily be made at this stage.

On the todo list. ![]()
include a selection of themes. The icons and walls are what really take space...
The newer themes are starting to get quite chubby too:

OK, I'm going to really put myself out on a limb here and say that you should make judgment call, @johnraff. ![]()
Give me a bodyguard, I'll back up to the waist bud (?) ... with a machine gun!! (My Wife, by John Entwistle)
Gonna buy a tank and an AERoplane, when she catches up with me won't be no time to explain.
She thinks I've been with another one and that's enough... to send her half insane.
All I did was have a bit too much to drink, and I picked the wrong Precinct. Got picked up by The Law, and now I ain't got time to think.

No problem!
If it were up to me, I'd say make all 12 variants listed above (ie continue providing the same 3 different resolutions as boron and beryllium did), but share them between bunsen-images and bunsen-images-base:
bunsen-images-base: ship only the 1920x1080 branded versions of bark and sage (2 files)
bunsen-images: ship the other 10 variants
But that does mean making 12 different wallpaper images - bark/sage x branded/unbranded x 1280x1024/1440x900/1920x1080 - are you up to doing that?
Bunsen-images also goes on shipping the Cog and Damo etc wallpapers that are there now, plus 1920x1080 from the previous BL release (ie Boron for the Carbon release).
As for older releases in bunsen-images-archives, keep just 1920x1080 resolution unbranded (because it's much easier to add a logo than take one off).
Does that sound OK? In particular, can you run off those 12 wallpapers?

1280x1024, 1440x900 and 1920x1080
Ok, I managed to save my original of the Bark wallpaper, and it's 2400x1600, so those resolutions are fine. Same with my Sage original.

Maybe wind up the logo visibility on Bark a tad?

Agreed, and maybe some mild opacity for the logo on Sage.
It's a process. Thumbnails are amazingly good at giving perspective.

^I think the logo's a bit faint on both of those, TBH.
Artistic though.

1280x1024 1440x900 1920x1080
The aspect ratio on the original walls doesn't scale to this, so I'll have to do some cropping.
-edit- 1920x1080 bark logo wallpaper...
sage...
I'm very pleased with these.
