More punk (I suppose I must need the energy at the moment to try and liven myself up). Sham 69 with "Borstal Breakout" (extended edition);

I liked this a lot, thanks!
I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone
Yes, nostalgia.
I remember seeing similar singles (with a hole in the middle) as a kid.
My parents (RIP) had quite a collection.
I probably earned my first extra pocket money when I learned to read and write.
The task was to make all the album covers fit together properly.
It was interesting at first, but then it got boring.
Anyway, I quickly realized that I would get the money even without it.

Are you saying that after that came singles with no hole in the middle?

The single's cover had a circle cut out in the middle like the one in the picture above.
On both sides (A/B or 1/2).
Yes, there were editions without the cutout circle ('hole').
The artist's picture was usually on the front and the song lyrics on the back.

^Ah now I understand - you mean the big hole in the paper cover, not the little hole in the record itself for the player spindle.
By the way, note the cutouts around that little hole which make it possible to open a much bigger hole - that's for jukeboxes.

I seem to be waking up early these days for some reason, so this song seems apposite;
