Aynsley Lister is local to me. Had no idea he'd gotten big

EDIT: feels like I should be drinking while listening to this. I'm so boring though, I haven't been properly drunk for over 20 years now...
EDIT2: I love browsing the new releases in Qobuz, there's always some gold to be found:
(2025 remaster)

There was a tribute on BBC's Radio 2 recently to Henry Mancini, who would have been 100 this year had he lived.
I'm listening to it now. I don't know if people outside the UK can hear it but it's really good;
I'm playing this again now, nearly a year later. Because it's an mp4 file its sound quality isn't perfect but it's good enough for casual listening and being a digital file it won't deteriorate or wear out as a tape or LP record will.

Lighthouse "Sunny Days". (Canadian supergroup from 1970s, they predate Chicago who sound like them on some tracks). Don't work so hard everybody.
"Sitting stoned alone in my backyard
Asking myself "Why should I work so hard?"
Sitting dreaming 'bout the days to come
Half-undressed, just soaking up the sun"

J. S. Bach - Concerto No. 7 for Harpsichord (piano here) and Orchestra in G minor, BWV 1058, second movement (and third and first if you rewind).

Turns out it's also his Violin concerto No 1 in A minor, BWV 1041, which was written first (second movement as well).

Ha, the label on the vid is wrong, it's No 1 not No 2. Here's another good recording of it (much better, IMO)...

Gah, they all fuck up the ending. The ending makes no sense if you do it triumphant after that weird cadence you've heard twice, it feels completely unattached to the piece that way. Make it a coda and do it very quietly, a dreamy afterthout. I doubt Bach put a dynamic marking on those last bars, and if he did, I'd ignore it.
I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?
