OCR (optical character recognition) GUI programs?

I don't need to extract text from pictures very often, but when I do, I end up using a phone. Any recommendations for an OCR package? Haven't found. GUI version of Tesseract might be good if exists.

Look through this thread. Started as scanner apps, but dovetailed to OCR.

I eventually found tesseract-ocr gave pretty good results, tied into Xsane or simple-scanner.
