Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

A quick update; I've since installed Exton's version of Damn Small (DSL-E) which of course is also 32-bit and it seems to be working well. I've installed a 32-bit variant of Thunderbird called Icedove which I saw on the antiX forum, and Pale Moon which is also available in a 32-bit version.

So far so good; I can do in 32-bit most of what I could do in 64-but Debian. The only downside is that you're limited to just over 3 GB of RAM.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

TileOS, a nice Debian based Wayland distro, quite stable. Built upon Bookworm with some packages backported from Trixie. This is the Sway version, there is another one for River and an experimental one for Qtile. Tested Sway and River.

My fault. I was a heavy Bunsenlabs user ten years ago, later on I did a lot of distro hopping. Not posting a lot here, but checking from time to time. The past two years I was very involved in Lilidog. After its closure I felt I should get back to Bunsen, so here I am, hopefully posting more often. Looking forward to Carbon and Wayland. And posting about different distros, I  carry the distrohopper virus in my blood...

Greetings to the many Lilidog colleagues I see here!.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

Installed LinuxHub Prime onto my testing laptop with the openbox window manager.  A very interesting Arch based distro with many different DEs and window managers that can be installed to suit your needs or wants.  It also alows one to build their own custom .iso if they choose to do so.  Info on it can be found here:

Hi there,

I'm posting this from Lilidog now! You should be proud (and Sleekmason too of course), it was a very fine effort.

Lilidog was a nice little distro and shame Sleek couldn't keep it going and here's hope he can regain his health.

Sleekmason and Packrat are the ones that desserve the merit. I was just a moderator on the forum. It was a great learning experience for me, I miss it. Hope that Sleekmason can recover quickly.
I still keep a copy of Lilidog on my main laptop, migrated it to Trixie. Currently on awesome but looking forward to Wayland and Sway. And of course, back to Bunsen that is an old friend.

Sleekmason did the heavy lifting. Lilidog was pretty much a one-man operation.

Thanks to a hint from @PackRat I installed ‘gila’ from @cog.

This ISO was released on 2025-05-07 and comes with awesome. I didn't think conky and the transparency of his window would be so tricky on this WM, i.e. I had to ‘read up’ first.   big_smile

But, actually, everything that conky does can be solved right away with awesome's rc.lua...

Upgrades have been okay as of late.  Yes, upgrades in the past did cause issues but, as of late things seem to go off without a hitch.

Yes I like Arch based distros, some independant distros and only a few debian based distros.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

Trying out this Debian based distro named LOC-OS installed on a spare laptop.  Lxde DE but I am running it on openbox window manager.  It is fairly low on resource usuage though a bit heavy on "stock" installed +packages.  Not bad for a Debian distro and am kinda liking so far and may wind up keeping it installed if nothing else than to play with it.  One of only few a Debian based distros that I actually like with antiX and Crowz also being in the group.  You can find it here:  https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=locos  and here:  https://loc-os.com/

This is interesting:

Loc-OS is free and without any telemetry. Includes LibreWolf, browser focused on user privacy.

So it's Devuan?

It is a Debian 12.10 fork, owns SysV init 3.14
