nvidia-driver nuked itself for me suddenly and after doing some reinstalls of both Xorg and Nvidia drivers using advice from the net the system is now in a state where startx gives a minimal lightdm/openbox with nouveau drivers active.
Is there a easy way to restore a Bunsenlabs GUI to default 'out of the box' from command line?

Is the BL desktop still an option in the lightdm drop down menu? Should be two options, BL and Openbox. You may have just changed defaults with the re-instsll.
Check /etc/skel and see if the default configs are there. You can copy them over as needed
You must unlearn what you have learned.

I'll check that. Basically i am in a state that GUI is not really working so i will have to work on config file level. No drop down menus visible.

/etc/skel directories contents didnt help much to restore. I am basically still in a state i cant get nouveau to run properly even after many re-installs back and forth. It seems a recent BIOS update caused secureboot to be enabled suddenly and that probably has had it's impact on things. I was quite surprised by the system being a mess suddenly. Particularly when i had done no kernel or nvidia driver updates when this happened (i always reboot to ensure all works).
I'll just let this rest. Don't need this setup anymore really.

The BL default configs are in /usr/share/bunsen/skel
