How do you know if Dobbie is a Metalhead? He'll tell you by sharing nearly every album that he listens to.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

A new version of Mabox, 25.02, has just come out and has two variants; one for newer  machines, and one for older ones.

I've just installed the one for older machines, which has a 6.1 kernel, and it seems to be working OK. Like Bunsen, it has a customised installation of OpenBox with preset shortcuts for launching applications.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

I've just converted my installation of Gecko Cinnamon (which is based on OpenSUSE) to the Slowroll repositories for ease of maintenance (major updates with Slowroll only happen once a month, hence the name), and so far everything is working as it should, even the more off beat software I installed with opi.

The only problem I had was a file conflict involving libtree-sitter.so.0, but so far I haven't seen any consequences of that.

Two for the price of one today; I've installed both the latest release of Pop!OS (alpha 7) and Nobara 41. Both went without a hitch.

Looking forward to trying them soon.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

Hot on my recent difficulties with Regolith, someone's created an MX Fluxbox spin with a lot of customised shortcuts for manipulating windows and a very elaborate conky configuration, called Fluxbox+. I'm using it now and it;s worth a look;

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

Edited: using Flatpak to install Betterbird and Waterfox in Endeavour did finally work. I'm going to stick with Flatpak (despite the fact that I think it's extremely wasteful of space) rather than AUR from now on when I use Endeavour.

(As an example, just installing Osmo took a 770 MB download. I think it's my old Methodist upbringing that revolts against that kind of profligacy).

Tagging this as I am very curious myself, have never tried converting any Mac to Linux and would be interested in replies myself.

The standard amd64 ISO image should work with that, it has support for that machine's 32-bit UEFI implementation.

Have you tried it?

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

Sad news.

Due to many issues, including health, @sleekmason will be shutting down LiliDog.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

Sorry to hear about his health and personal issues.

On another note, I am not supprised that lilidog is being shut down since sleekmason tended to drive away some who tried to assist him not only with the forum but the distro as well.  Oh well, as the saying goes.  "Every dog has their day."

I'm very sorry to hear that Sleekmason is having health problems, and hope he recovers.

In the past, he was a frequent visitor to these forums, but once Lilidog got under way he sort of left the radar screen. We are in his debt for the sleek dark theme of BL Beryllium. I think he picked up some ideas from members here too.

It is now official.  Both the lilidog website and lilidog forum are no more.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

Yes, it's a bit abrupt. He could have at least left a goodbye message up for a while, if not the downloads and read-only forum...

But all the best to Sleekmason anyway, hoping things work out OK for him.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

The downloads for the last release of Lilidog remain on Sourceforge and the git repositories are still on github.  He did make one last change on github, pointing the website for his projects to Sourceforge.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

Found a copy of Sleekmason's goodby notice on LinuxQuestions.org.  He apparently posted it only a day before taking the site down:

"Sorry folks, but my ability to continue active development of Lilidog, website, and forum is ending. Other priorities in my life make trying to continue extremely difficult, and my health comes first.

I want to thank everyone for their support over the last five years, both personally and for all the help in making the distro.

If there is anything you want off of the forum, now is the time to grab it. Both the forum and website will be shutting down. Sourceforge will continue as is, and at some point I will try to release a trixie build, probably well before the actual change. Won't know until I see whats up there.

One thing that may be of interest is the css for the forum itself. A goldmine of snippets used in the forum that took many many hours to find and develop. Having those snippets would make life much easier for those wanting to start a Flarum forum.

Github will also remain as is for those wanting files, etc. I WILL continue to develop items and work on different things as time goes by.

I'm really going to miss all of this. Guess that's the way it goes sometimes. Thanks again everyone. Maybe I'll see you around the other forums somewhere, but probably not real soon.

I can always be reached through sleekmason@gmail.com for those needing any input or advise about Lilidog related things, or anything else as far as that goes.

This forum will self destruct in 24 hours. Run!

Good luck in all your endeavors. - sleekmason"
