Sorry to hear about his health and personal issues.

On another note, I am not supprised that lilidog is being shut down since sleekmason tended to drive away some who tried to assist him not only with the forum but the distro as well. Oh well, as the saying goes. "Every dog has their day."

In the past, he was a frequent visitor to these forums, but once Lilidog got under way he sort of left the radar screen. We are in his debt for the sleek dark theme of BL Beryllium. I think he picked up some ideas from members here too.

Yes, it's a bit abrupt. He could have at least left a goodbye message up for a while, if not the downloads and read-only forum...

But all the best to Sleekmason anyway, hoping things work out OK for him.

The downloads for the last release of Lilidog remain on Sourceforge and the git repositories are still on github. He did make one last change on github, pointing the website for his projects to Sourceforge.

Found a copy of Sleekmason's goodby notice on LinuxQuestions.org. He apparently posted it only a day before taking the site down:

"Sorry folks, but my ability to continue active development of Lilidog, website, and forum is ending. Other priorities in my life make trying to continue extremely difficult, and my health comes first.

I want to thank everyone for their support over the last five years, both personally and for all the help in making the distro.

If there is anything you want off of the forum, now is the time to grab it. Both the forum and website will be shutting down. Sourceforge will continue as is, and at some point I will try to release a trixie build, probably well before the actual change. Won't know until I see whats up there.

One thing that may be of interest is the css for the forum itself. A goldmine of snippets used in the forum that took many many hours to find and develop. Having those snippets would make life much easier for those wanting to start a Flarum forum.

Github will also remain as is for those wanting files, etc. I WILL continue to develop items and work on different things as time goes by.

I'm really going to miss all of this. Guess that's the way it goes sometimes. Thanks again everyone. Maybe I'll see you around the other forums somewhere, but probably not real soon.

I can always be reached through sleekmason@gmail.com for those needing any input or advise about Lilidog related things, or anything else as far as that goes.

Just installed LiliDog and I must say I'm very impressed with what sleekmason has done with it and the attention to detail throughout.

Since it seems that Lilidog is not going to continue, should the features that were developed for it be evaluated to see if any of them are appropriate for bunsenlabs?

I've just downloaded the latest version of Neptune (a year old now). Nothing much has changed really, it's still the same distro (KDE on Debian Stable) though with updated software; but it all works well enough, There's a low memory option available for people with limited specced computers, using Enlightenment as the window manager.

One thing to be aware of though is that because it's a German distro, it's easy to access the German repositories by mistake as I did (still not got a clue what Firefox-Datenschutzhinweis means, though I'm sure I can look it up).

Currently, Xebian runs very smoothly on my one desktop. Wondering if Sid will break something sooner or later.

Thanks. I've managed to covert the interface to (British) English now, though it was a struggle and involved having to look up several German words in an online translation program.

Well that didn't last long because I got a screen refresh problem in Neptune that I was unable to overcome.

I've removed Neptune now and installed Debian Stable (12.10) from the installation DVD, which with the Mate desktop manager is all working impeccably so far (as Debian Stable usually does).

I've installed Mint XFCE on one of my computers. Suddenly, there were to many problems with Sparky. I feel like an ungrateful f...k, but I just can't be bothered with sending bug reports anymore (don't have time).

I recently downloaded Sparky (lightweight edition, with LXQT and Midori instead of Firefox) and installed it.
To be frank it's the same old story - it works well but looks very retro and I also dislike the logo on the Start button.

Looking into changing it by installing a different window manager or desktop environment.
