Running some tests on OpenSUSE Leap with KDE. So far so good.
Synthetic browser benchmarks give me odd results (Firefox vs Chromium vs Librewolf), but it could be due to virtualization. I will have to normalize the test conditions and redo them on bare metal later this year.

The installer for Ubuntu Oracular has an option to install a close-to-minimal GNOME/Wayland desktop. Really great, IMO. Just remove a few packages I don't need (snapd, evolution-data, ibus) and add a few extensions I like...
This desktop is nearly as low on memory usage as BL carbon. Plasma uses at least 1G more memory than this on my hardware.

^ Thanks, yours too. That's funny, I gave up on Audacious and switched to DeaDBeef just yesterday.

Something go wrong with Audacious? I used it until they went with qt; then I switched to DeadBeef. I just went back to Audacious on my KDE installs.
I don't really hear any difference on my low end sound sysytem.
You must unlearn what you have learned.
