Greetings!

In the old BL forum there was a thread where members introduced their workplace or their computer. It was a nice tradition and as far as I remember it was actively used.
Unfortunately this thread seems to have been lost with the change of the forum.

That's why I thought to revive it.

Let's go!

We have moved.
We sold our house, which we had lived in for almost 30 years. All the work involved in maintaining the house, the land and looking after it simply became too much for us in old age. We prepared for this long enough.

Now we have an apartment with underfloor heating, an elevator, underground parking - and a lot less work.

This is now my study. It's a bit smaller than it used to be.

The new computer meets my 'modest needs'. What's cool is its size and corresponding performance.
Here's a size comparison, with the computer on the left and a normal printer on the right.

It was delivered with the debian-cinnamon I wanted. What I saved on the cpu, I invested in a second ssd, wifi antenna module and 32GB RAM.

Switching on and working was the order of the day.
In the meantime, BL-Carbon has also been installed on it. I am satisfied.

Sweet setup unklar, we also have Union Flag cushions in our living room :-)

EDIT: the bike has had brush guards fitted since that pic was taken, which really help in the winter. Make it a little bit fatter through traffic but the trade-off is worth it (IMO).

We actually wanted to have it the other way round: two cushions large with the colors of Scotland and GB small , because I came to the Whyski in Scotland through my daughter.

Edit: I'm too old for the fast bike.

Oh, it's not fast. Only 47bhp, it'll barely push past 100mph. It's great on petrol though, I've stretched the 17 litre tank to almost 300 miles with just gentle motorway work. Very comfortable too, with great wind protection.

Nice office. I always thought it was a bigger more powerful office.

My computer work space is a mess. I showed unklar not long ago, cleaned it up and it's still a mess.
Still has some of my wife's stuff there, The little cellphone on the left (LG-Leon 4") I use as an alarm clock. The one in the centre of my desk, LG k40, has a few dictionaries, 3 offline games, Mahjongg, Sudoku and Forgotten Tales RPG, wifi and data are normally off and airplane mode on for both phones.
Under my monitor is a Buddha, an HOAS wanna be office made of scrap iron parts and a key-chain Darth Vader glued to an old 'fried' AMD CPU for a base.
On my printer's paper tray a crocheted Messi doll with a little wooden Boston Terrier

I'm sure unklar will tell you - it has been cleaned up.

PS: Mostly I plug the K-40 into the computer and use 'scrcpy' to play the games if at home, otherwise they get played in waiting rooms or when having a coffee someplace. It's a little larger than the phone screen when done like that.

I'm a pensioner and don't need to worry about that (Ice driving).

I can confirm that it looks very tidy in your home!

But when you're in 'flight mode', you can't be called either?

The Brother printer (belongs to my wife), I bought it prematurely. Without consulting her. It got a lot of grease (in German) because its paper cassette is pulled out to the front.
She had a Brother where this cassette is integrated.
“Because I always can't wait,” was her accusation. So now I have to deal with the cat...

Yea, been a while since I've been in full flight mode.
At this stage of life other priorities come first

Now that I look closer they could be twins, or at least close relatives.

Model: "Brother Industries HL-1110 series" - almost as old as I am.
Came out just after the hammer and chisel were depreciated.
Many a stone mason lost their jobs.

Most are in the house. But that pic only shows half of my man-cave, on another bench there's an old lappy somebody gave me, like a 2008 model but still works, I use it for music, pipe it out through the headphone jack to an extra Alpine head-unit I have running off a 12 volt charger and out to the speakers. But it does pick up the wi-fi from the house, so occasionally I listen to internet radio too. It's also handy if I need to order parts for something i'm working on.

I like working with my hands so when it's warm out i'm usually in there, got a nice little beer fridge in there too!

Col. Jackson hangs out and offers encouragement, at least until I fire up the tablesaw or other machinery.

Nah, small bikes are where it's at for me. Big bikes just add to running costs and for long distances the frugal consumption of my 500 means it can get to the drop quicker than a big bike that goes faster but has to stop for petrol. Tortoise and hare :-)
