The 12.9 ISO image is now available from SourceForge. Well, the amd64 image is available now, the i386 version will be up once I've built it...

No changes for this version, it's just a refreshed image for the Debian 12.9 point release.

@HOAS do you plan to make 32bit isos for Debian 13?
Now the Debian installer has dropped support it doesn't look easy...
No more 32bit kernels too, it looks like.

Oh dear, that's not good. I suppose Callamares should work, at least theoretically, but the ncurses installer is Debian, at least as far as I'm concerned.

I'm still unsure whether BL will have any chance of shipping a 32bit Carbon installer. It's looking doubtful TBH.
The newest 32bit kernel is 6.10.11-1 on bookworm-backports.

I suppose we could wrangle something with the netinstall script - install 32bit Bookworm and upgrade it to Trixie, but it looks like hard work for a diminishing number of potential users.

I have a nice little 32bit laptop I'll be sorry to throw away though...

I can't believe Debian is abandoning i386. Perhaps deadbang should move to an Alpine Linux base. I already know the distribution and it's packaging quite well.

The installer is the big issue though. I have no idea how Calamares works but I presume the debian-installer-launcher package would provide it in the live environment, and that might carry on working after the initramfs (boot menu) installer has been dropped.

EDIT: maybe I should ask my comrades over at the antiX forums about the i386 support there. They will be facing the same issues.

You might also consider using PeppermintOS. I believe they offer i386 on both Devuan and Debian.

Downloaded deadbang, gonna check it out tonight, i'm a big fan of minimalism and Openbox-anything always gets my attention.

The kernel, installer and iso images will be gone, but the 32bit packages will still be around, so some back-alley installs might still work. I guess the lack of a kernel newer than Bookworm-backports is the biggest barrier.
