USB installer skips past boot menu [Resolved]

The BunsenLabs site installation page links to a page at debian.org that suggests the use of Balena Etcher on Windows to create bootable USB sticks from the iso file.  The two sticks I created that way both had the behavior of skipping past the boot menu without showing it and launching directly into the live system.  That was fine for the work I needed to use the live system for, but the next step was performing an install, and of course that was a problem.

I solved this problem by installing Msys2, and using the dd utility provided with msys2.  Writing the USB stick took about 12 minutes on the system I was using.  The boot menu appears as expected, and I can launch the installer.

For reference for others, and possibly a future version of myself.

That's awfully strange. I've been using Balena Etcher/Etcher forever with no issues. Glad to hear you got it working though! smile
