Hi, I'm returning to Linux desktop after 3 and 1/2 years (I was using OpenBox at that time). Is anyone using a Wayland desktop environment and finding it satisfactory to the extent that they recommend it over a traditional X11 DE?

I have no idea, however I would point to an Openbox fork for Wayland which is being developped, I keep my eyes on it thinking some day, Wayland will be the most used over Xorg (search for wizbright/waybox at Github)

Gnome & KDE are now fully Wayland as are about a dozen other desktops including, Sway, Hyprland, Labwc, amongst others.

The closest thing to Openbox on Wayland is labwc afaict so hopefully Openbox itself be ported over to Wayland soon!

Very interesting indeed! I just had a glance at the description in the Gihub project, it looks very promising!!! In my bookmarks now, and thank you for the information!
