Screen tearing issue when watching videos

Hi, I didn't seem to quite find this issue posted on the forum before.
I am new to bunsenlabs/linux in general and I keep getting awful horizontal screen tearing when watching videos, especially in full screen mode
I am running bunsenlabs boron on laptop with an intel i7 and a nvidia gtx 1650
When i first noticed the problem I tried to create the infamous 20-intel-graphics.conf file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d, which fixed the tearing issue, but caused extreme lag in the videos.
I then installed the nvidia proprietary drivers by following the official debian guide but that didn't change anything.
Now i can't create any configuration file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d because it's gonna break my optimus system.
I may have explained myself not in the most technical of ways.
Is there a way to fix the issue?
