I guess I am going to be doing a lot of cable work in this place, which I swore I would never do again (out of sheer laziness).
Or buy a cheap USB WiFi dongle, plenty of them work well with Linux. Some are low profile & barely protrude.
Alternative, open the laptop & replace the wifi-card with an Intel one, it's usually quite feasible to replace those cards & the brand/chipset does not have to match the original. They're a standardised form factor (or one of a couple, depending on age).

For what it's worth, I too had very similar issues. My wifi and bluetooth wouldn't work or when working behaved in a bizarre way. I got rid of Windows on both my desktop and laptop. The problems I was having stopped. Just my severely uninformed opinion but it worked for me.
I am about to try that also. If it works, I'll re-edit the title, but it is clearly not resolvable with win 11 on the same machine.
Which is fair enough, as tis not worth having, imho, now that I have tried it.

^ Over 10 years ago I got a free USB 3G modem (mobile internet) from my phone provider at the time.
It worked great, wherever there was a phone signal I could connect my laptop.
When you first insert the USB modem, a GUI appears that allows you to easily set everything up and of course enable automatic connection so you don't have to enter the password every time.
I think the modem is made by HUAWEI.
At the time I was using dual boot (Windows XP and Lubuntu) and everything worked fine.
If (when) you decide to buy, bring your laptop and test in the store.

Not sure you can really classify this as a bug but thought I'd let the powers that be know. When I open VLC, the transparency within conky and tint2 stops and is replaced by just a black background. If I open even the menu, it resorts back to transparency. A very small thing which I'm more than happy to live with guys. Just thought I'd let y'all know.

Having been a bit ill, I haven't done much yet, but:
Using my phone and USB tethering and my fibre internet, I get a respectable download speed of 359.3 Mbps, so I am quite happy with that for the moment.
But I will be much more careful with my next purchase.
Thank you everyone for your assistance, and the eventual solution.
