Greater States of Chaos

I read Hawking's "A Brief History of Time" a long time ago. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I took this point away from it, among others... as the universe expands, it exists in greater and greater states of chaos.

It's getting to the point where I not only notice this every year, I notice it every day. People and their actions, weather patterns, the neighbors dog's breath... it's all getting worse.

Without bringing your personal Jesus into it, can anyone give me some solace? This guy was helping, but he died in a diving accident...

Re: Greater States of Chaos

Entropy always increases. Scientifically or mathematically, however, I would remind you of fractal mathematics and how order somehow rises out of those states of chaos. Given enough complexity and iterations, order will emerge.

LOL. Yup. That band reinventing themselves after Ian Curtis died says a lot about the subject.

Age is relative!

42 years for a cabbage is really really ancient!
42 years for a mountain isn't even the start of birth pains yet.
42 years for a man is just right!

hhh you sound like a rock and a hard place.  Truly sorry to hear about the east|west thing.  So sad! sad

Re: Greater States of Chaos

I do think (at 41) that your twenties are when you break out on to the scene and change the world (if you ever will) and your thirties are when you break into management and have kids. The rest is just life. Paying bills, occupying space, missing the good old days. Lamenting the decline in morality and education etc. When you're twenty you don't realise we are all on death row. But I wouldn't change it for the world. Every day above ground truly is a good day.

Re: Greater States of Chaos

You guys are all smart and stuff. This goes over ma head. Agree with the you're getting old, live long enough in a crazy world and it all adds up I guess.

But so does general discontent, ie: How do you know your neighbors dogs breath is getting worse over time, has this truly been quantified and via what method ? smile

Mass shootings and people committing acts of unthinkable tardation is certainly older than jebuz. Just so much more accessible me thinks. Welcome to the digital age, can find ( or hear about) more weirdness than a person would ever want to know/hear about w the push of a few buttons in 2015.

Edit: More pointless nonsense. Really do agree w you that things have definitely gotten stranger over just the course of my life and haven't exactly figured out why. Seems to me people have gotten exponentially stupider( more shallow) have some sound theories as to why on that one. Little reflection on this would have to pin quite a bit on population growth, 7.2 - 7.3 billion inhabitants on this rock. ( est 2015)

More people, more strangeness and chaos. Logical enough if still frustrating, shrugs. Guess strive to be a part of the solution rather than contributor to the problems ?

Yeah I was going to say, I'm not smart enough to follow half of what you guys are talking about....well maybe not, I just don't have the attention span to read and absorb. It's a struggle I tell ya.

Well, it is true that the entropy is not really decreasing; rather it is at best constant and mostly increases. Hence, more and more chaos is to be (don't believe to hyperphysics ... they concelaed certain informations abot entropy). And there is no hope it is gonna be better.

But, my dear friend hhh, the idea is that you understand that there is no hope. As soon as you embrace that, you will feel better, and start to see really important things in life. See it for yourself on the excellent No hope diagram:

Re: Greater States of Chaos

Lmao Imbecil, that diagram is farkin brilliant. Though once again too deep for me to get ma head around. Just got the general impression there is wisdom in it somewhere. big_smile

Nah hhh, think it's good to get things off your chest fellow nixer. Also it's somehow affirming/reassuring when others draw the same conclusions or make the same observations of the world. Makes me feel like less of a weirdoe or whackjob. SEE I TOLD YA'S I'M NOT CRAZY !

Besides repression imo tends to be a bad thing, whether sexual or other negative emotions. It has to go somewhere or logically enough the pressure will build. No positive outlet or actions taken to change whatever is causing bad feelings. Sooner or later something is bound to give. You cited one such example, am sure that disturbed individual had such pressures building for who knows how many years and then KABOOM !!!

Also on top of all these considerations. If a nixer ever explodes and shoots a buncha people ( which a good nixer am hoping would at least choose people who actually deserved to be shot down like dogs.)The media and M$ will somehow find a way to blame it on gnu/Linux. ie: We've been saying for years that nixers are a dangerous and disturbed techno cult.
