Should Thunar be able to show thumbnails for PNG files? It works fine for JPGs.
Thanks.

Have you installed tumbler? Also check the minimum size to display thumbnails in the Thunar settings is configured correctly for your setup.

Yes, I checked, I have tumbler and tumbler-plugins-extras installed. Where would I find the setting for minimum size to display thumbnails? Didn't see it in the Thunar preferences. It is displaying thumbnails for JPGs that are smaller in size (KB) and same resolution as the PNGs. The JPGs and PNGs have the same permissions and default "Open With BL Image Viewer" settings. Running BL Boron.

Another thing to try is delete or rename Thunar's folder in ~/.config and restart Thunar.

Thanks - I see it now it is set to unlimited. I deleted the Thunar folder in .config, restarted Thunar and same results.
Interesting thing, though, I looked on my drive for other PNGs, and found some that DO display thumbnails. The ones NOT showing thumbnails don't seem to be corrupted, they open fine in image viewers.
It's not a big deal to me, just weird...

^ Have you tried clearing the thumbnail cache first?
I haven't used Thunar for a long time but these two terminal commands should work.
rm -v -f ~/.cache/thumbnails/*/*.png ~/.thumbnails/*/*.png
rm -v -f ~/.cache/thumbnails/*/*/*.png ~/.thumbnails/*/*/*.png
If people would know how little brain is ruling the world, they would die of fear.

Thanks - but same issue after running these commands.

Are the png files on a remote storage like your phone? Thunar doesn't always show thumbnails for remote storage.
Thunar settings:
Edit -> Preferences -> Display -> Show Thumnails
change Show Thumbnails to "Always"
You can also try stopping and restarting the tumblerd service.

You must unlearn what you have learned.
