items appearing off screen with arandr layout

This is something that has annoyed me since Lithium, is now occurring on Boron and it's time to get to the bottom of it.

I have a preferred screenlayout created in arandr and saved as a shell script, which I can invoke at the start of a session.  My laptop display is smaller than my main display, with the laptop display situated to the left.  You can see how I have this positioned in the arandr layout:

However, when I apply this and call jgmenu on the laptop display with either a right-click or Super+SPACE, the menu appears so high, with half of it off the physical display.  The screenshot of the entire screen taken shows how high it is, and although it is captured in the image (with the window also behind it), what appears on the left screen in the screenshot, does not represent the physical real estate of the laptop display.

How can I rectify this?

Re: items appearing off screen with arandr layout

This is for a joined layout? I think the problem is where you position the laptop screen relative to the HDMI one in Arandr. Try aligning the top edges (click/drag the laptop up). I can't test at the moment, sorry.

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Re: items appearing off screen with arandr layout

It is a joined layout, comprising of two screens - the laptop and smaller physical screen on the left.  It's not an issue if I move eDP-1 to position 0,0 as windows are not allowed to be rendered out of bounds.

Yes, I also think the problem is with the screen alignment, but I don't think it should be a problem, if the feature allows to move a smaller screen around in the available space.
When eDP-1 is positioned centrally, according to the layout in arandr, it should have 2 voids - an upper (magenta) and a lower (green).  The lower void is always correctly ignored.  For example, it is not possible to move any window or my mouse cursor into it.  The same cannot be said for the upper.
