All the files in the current .iso image ./firmware have zero size.
Checked the current debian download and it has all the .deb files (except the one I need) as non-zero size.
A web page at
//cdimage.debian.org/mirror/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/firmware/bookworm/current/
has a firmware.zip which unpacks to all non-zero sized .deb files as non-zero size.
Had made a bootable USB stick of the bunsenlabs using rufus, and used the option which allowed additional files to be added to the stick. Erased the zero sized ./firmware/XXX.deb files on the stick, and copied the unpacked .deb files from the above URL into the ./firmware directory.
My original reason for launching into this bug is a BunsenLabs install fail at the Detect network hardware step. Error was "Some of your hardware needs non-free bla bla bla"
With the new non-zero sized .deb files in the USB ./firmware/ directory, the install went without error.

So, this is a Debian bug where they're not reporting the file size correctly? Is there a Debian bug report?
I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

@tpm the files in ./firmware on the iso are all symlinks (hence zero size) which point to non-zero .deb files in ./pool
Could it be that rufus had failed to copy the symlimks correctly?

With Rufus use dd mode and the iso creation will be correct.
