That's true, but if you download the Tor browser, you'd have it in a folder in your home, whatever your distro. You simply run it as an app not connected to your system.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

I downloaded and installed TOR some time ago when #! was my main distro. To be honest, I didn't care for it, but I can live with it while playing with Tails.  8)

What? Me worry?

Red pill or blue pill?

Pacman's new hooks are looking *really* interesting and useful:

The only drawback I'm finding with OpenBSD is the antediluvian package management so I may be installing a new Arch system soon to get a taste of the state-of-the-art  8)

That's been my experience too after a few days on it. It's really good excepting that.

No manjaro VMs around here in a long while. Wanting to give Manjaro OpenRC a go too.

Ah yes, I forgot about your dependency issues.

You can build from ports instead and modify the makefiles to control the dependencies more tightly.

See this post on the @misc mailing list:
http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-misc&m=145035223421471&w=2

The thing about the BSDs is that the third-party applications (ie, anything not in the base system) are very much a secondary concern and one of the (many) advantages of OpenBSD is that the X server is part of the base system and so is developed in concert with everything else.

Thanks for the info, HoaS.

That's a truly great one. The few WMs i've tried run noticeably smoother that in Debian. The way they deal with the Xserver makes a significant difference.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

Void rocks, but better get a good set of config and dot files on hand. You'll need to config almost everything starting from bash. The defaults are pretty lame.

PuppyBang 6.0.3 cool Openbox!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayl-pK3 … KHxn8fJr8L

This distro is so fast installed on my flash drive running in RAM with persistent storage on a spare SSD.
I would definitely recommend giving this puppy a spin  cool

  • Format flash drive FAT32

  • Select image in unetbootin and copy image

  • Boot from USB flash drive into PuppyBang

Not yet. Wish I had them. I mostly used Debian for last three years, so many system configs I'm used to don't work for Void. It's closer to Arch. When I run Void I have to spend a lot of time in the Arch (and Void) wiki and surfing the Arch forums for info and tweaks. Still a work in progress (and going very slow with it. For me it's being very time consiming. Way more than Installing and configuring Arch). Otherwise the system itself is stunning. I hope some day I'll have a nice set of Void's config & dot files to share on github or anywhere else.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

^ What would you say, if you can get a squashed Arch Openbox system for you to install manually? Manually means unsquashing, copy and paste and do few configs in chroot, such as adding user, localtime, host, hostname etc?

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

I didn't broke it but got stuck with some configs. I wasn't able to make them work yet. Still learning the Void way. Void is not for noobs. You really need to know the guts we usually take for granted in Debian and other systems. Think of it as a mid point between Arch and Gentoo with loads of flavors of (Open)BSD.

Debian is way easier and there's plenty of info in the webz, or just here. Just ask. We'll be happy to help.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

Manjaro Deepin edition, a user created distro. These user created distros are not only allowed in the forum, but are welcomed. Interesting forum post on it, https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?top … #msg244501 also it is announced in the main page of Manjaro website https://manjaro.github.io/
Downloaded it yesterday night. Deepin_Manjaro1.jpg Deepin_Manjaro2.jpg
Maybe such community created distros should be invited here too.
