It is not advisable to linger on oldstable Debian...
But about reinstalling or upgrading, only you can answer what is best for you. There is advantages and disadvantages with both.
I use both methods. Mostly upgrading, sometimes reinstalling.
When reinstalling, you get rid of all glitches.
But, have you ever done an upgrade? It is good to try to do it.

If you take a look at Debian repository for Firefox (https://packages.debian.org/search?suit … ds=firefox), you will se that you get firefox-esr 102.13.0esr-1~deb12u1, both in stable bookworm and oldstable buster...

So, if it bothers you using version 102.13.0esr-1~deb12u1, you can download version 116 from mozilla (as a tarball) or use chromium or other more curent browser.

The best is to reinstall - Lithuum seems too old.

Re: upgrade or install

If you were to try an upgrade, do not go directly from Lithium to Boron. Upgrade to Beryllium, fix any issues, then go from there to Boron.

Re: upgrade or install

Here’s a breakdown of your options:

Upgrade Firefox:

Pros: Upgrading Firefox will ensure you have the latest security updates, features, and compatibility improvements. It’s a straightforward solution if you just need a newer version of the browser.
Cons: Depending on your current system setup, the latest Firefox version might not be compatible with your operating system.
Upgrade BL (Operating System):

Pros: Updating your operating system can bring you the latest security patches, improved performance, and better support for newer applications, including a more recent version of Firefox.
Cons: Upgrading the OS might require significant changes and could affect compatibility with existing applications or hardware.
Install Beryllium:

Pros: Beryllium is a newer OS that might offer better support for modern applications, including updated browsers. It could be a good long-term solution if you’re considering a more significant change.
Cons: Transitioning to a new OS involves a learning curve and may require reconfiguring your environment or reinstalling applications.
Recommendation:

If you only need an updated browser and your current OS supports a newer Firefox version, upgrading Firefox is the simplest and quickest solution.
If you’re facing broader compatibility or performance issues, upgrading your operating system or switching to Beryllium might be more beneficial.
Consider your needs, current system capabilities, and how much effort you’re willing to invest in making these changes.
