Boron themes

Updated June 21st, '23...

Theme proposals for Boron, feel free to add yours! I'll start...

Boron: based on Yaru, generated by Oomox, a dark gtk/openbox theme, and Boron-light, a light colored version...

Re: Boron themes

I like a lot Yaru themes/icons, i used for a year to a GTK3 toolkit, also used Ubuntu font-family. This font is very preferred in some systems. So, without the need to install Ubuntu system, Always stimulated as if i had such once.

Well done hhh, seems you're back on actions making edits. Hope you and users having fun using it.

Re: Boron themes

I'll add these themes to bunsen-themes and upload the updated package, maybe today.
That way experimental Boron users will be able to test them out easily.

Once the Boron wallpaper is chosen, I'll add it to bunsen-images and adjust Boron bunsen-configs to make the new themes and wallpaper default. Add the picom and tint2 configs too.

Thanks @hhh!

Re: Boron themes

^ Pretty, if I do say so myself!

And here's a scrot of a light version (aqua) using boron-vertical-light.tint2rc and a custom Numix-icon color scheme, the notification theme is set to 'default'...

QYPWyBfl.png

The wallpaper is the default for Debian bookworm, Emerald by Juliette Taka, but I removed the Debian logo. Available in my wallpaper repo...

Re: Boron themes

^^Wow yes, that light theme is really nice!

And borrowing the Debian wallpaper is a neat idea. (As long as we credit Juliette Taka in the copyright.)

Now we have to choose which one to make default...

Lithium and Beryllium were both dark, so time for a light theme again??

(Of course, whichever it is, we should ship the other one as a user alternative.)

Dark, grey highlight, bleak wallpaper. The people have spoken (gnashing of teeth!) Screw the reviews, someone will still prefer crunchbang++ anyway... Black and white, ha haa! https://crunchbangplusplus.org/ Kudos to them, I'll have to try it.

Or full-on psychedelic, I could go for that.

Re: Boron themes

I really like that aquatic blue myself.

And for the dark theme, maybe dark red highlights to match those red icons?
https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic … 58#p128158
I've now custom-darkened them to #BD423F #A12424 #782624
The difference is subtle - maybe they could go even darker?
No screenshot yet.

Re: Boron themes

I know you mean something subtle, tasteful, and red, but in this thread I'm going full Elvira.

No problem with that here, that's what I've been using the last two days. It's not even a new look, Beam wallpaper and the light theme that went with it for Lithium looked very similar, iirc. It would be nice to shake our default desktop up a bit.

Then again...

Re: Boron themes

@hhh

Very nice themes.

You might get new ideas:

I like to use a gradient instead of a background-color.

Gtk3 theme (applications) selected items

light orange:

background-image: linear-gradient(to bottom, #fd8420, #a44400);

light blue:

background-image: linear-gradient(to bottom, #5294e2, #294a80);

nautilus-selected.png

Gtk2 theme (applications) hover items  - assets

orange menuitem.png:
menuitem.png

*For some reason the link is not working properly, maybe because the image is too small.
Just right click in browser > Save Image As  or  Open Image in New Tab.

Shell theme hover poup items

light orange:

    background-gradient-direction: vertical;
    background-gradient-start: #fd8420;
    background-gradient-end: #a44400;

@hhh can you post the three custom colours you used for numix-folders to make that icon theme?
I'd just colour-pick off the scrot, but Thunar doesn't have focus so the colours are dimmed.

Re: Boron themes

@marens, thanks for suggestions, I'll check them out!

@john, I can't believe I didn't save them! But this is close enough...

Primary: 346773
Secondary: 9BB9BF
Symbol: E9F1F2

That looks really close, to my eye.

Re: Boron themes

^Thanks!
With svg files, it's easy enough to tweak the colours later, using rpl for example, should we want to.
