Exporting ac3 file with Audacity

I am tying to modify an audio track of a video clip.
I saved the audio with avidemux it created an aac file.
I modified the file with Audacity cant save it as aac file.
I got the following when i am
exporting the audio as ac3 file :
FFmpeg Error encoding frame failed.

Is there a way to make Audacity be able to export aac? Or could someone recommend a different software which can modify aac?

Re: Exporting ac3 file with Audacity

Import into Audacity via File>Import>Audio... choose the video file, and Audacity will import the audio.

Then select the entire track (Ctrl+a), optionally change the project rate to 44100 if it's not already set (lower left box labeled "Project rate (Hz)", and then it should export (File>Export>Export Audio...>M4a (AAC) Files (in the lower-right dropdown box)>Save.

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Can you export as OGG or any other format? What format is the original file? Can you import an m4a file or another video format?

Re: Exporting ac3 file with Audacity

Yes exporting to Ogg Vorbis wav and mp3 works. Yes i can import m4a files and other formats as well. Its a 32 bit debian 11 audacity version 2.4.2 maybe need to updated? I cant even found a newer deb version dont want to use flatpak or appimage.

You probably need ffmpeg installed, see
