These are the results of tests run on:
SharpBang ♯!
CrunchBang Plus Plus #!++
BunsenLabs BL
Sparky Minimul GUI (Openbox) SMG
Update: Sparky would not install GRUB; two out of two fails.
Fresh install
Full update
Install neofetch
Get shot
Install hardinfo if needed
Make screenshots of test results
It doesn't matter the test, it's how each OS compares to the others.
Partition info:
Blowfish ↓ CryptoHash ↑ FFT ↓ Drawing ↑ (↑-higher is better, ↓ is better)
♯! 0.39 6633.36 0.84 2894.26
#!++ 0.39 6890.16 0.86 4253.92
BL 0.37 6534.72 0.87 5528.30
♯!
#!++
BL
I like the menu setup in #!++, it's a lot like the setup in Xfce's right-click menu.

If anyone has questions or wants me to try something while I have this setup, please ask. I'm soon gonna start over with Sparky and other debian/openbox spins.

Nice work and good to see how BL stacks up to its "competitors". Thanks for sharing!

As for the speed test, I think the differences are not going to matter for the average desktop user. There was one outlier, the low score for Drawing in ♯!
Asked on the ArchLabs Forum.

And now to intertwine the third topic running in this thread;
Debian will glom onto any swap partition it can find. When I created the partitions for this project, I prosperously omitted a swap file and opted out during the installs.
I then created a swap partition and rebooted.
Debian uses the swap partition; but not for anything official, like hibernation, etc.
In this shot it's BL, but the same was true of all the Debian spins on this machine.

Back to the Menu.
Useful topic, thanks!
I had a couple of small suggestions for the Boron menu, but would also like to discuss the other things you bring up - accomodating different peoples' workflows etc.
Really there should be a dedicated Menu discussion in Development & Suggestions; this thread is now a mixture of speed tests, menu and now swap handling. It's your thread @eight.bit.al, but Scripts, Tutorials & Tips is meant for people to share Stuff That Works™ - scripts, configs etc.
Could I snip out the menu posts from this thread and move them to a new topic in Development & Suggestions for further discussion?
In fact, if I did that, the remaining speed tests and swap discussion might better be moved to BL & General Linux Discussion, as two separate threads.
EDIT: Menu discussion split off here: https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic.php?id=8488
Remaining "Tests" topic now here in BL & General Linux Discussion.

We just need a menu thread, The rest can peacefully die.
I gratefully leave it in your capable hands. Sorry to make extra work for you.
